Majority of Uzbeks dont know about his massacres so thats why they see him as a father of the nation. However area of current uzbekistan brought a lot of great generals before Timur. Alp Arslan was born Khorezm who won a battle 1071 Manzikert which led to open anatolia for Turks. Saifuddin Qutuz was from royal family of Khorezmian empire. When mongols capture Khorazm he was sold as slave later ended up in Egypt. He rose to general of the army in Egypt. Saifuddin Qutuz is first general who openly without disputes beat the mongols. Battle of Ain Jalut. Mahmud Ghaznavi was born in afghanistan but his family parents were from Ferghana region. Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur Great grandson of Timur. Baburid empire captured india and ruled before British came. Seljuqs were mostly from that region.

Timur is a definite point in favor of the argument that an evil man (understatement) who thinks himself a hero is capable of more harm than your run of the mill sociopath. I would guess that all of his good qualities merely amplified his ability to do evil. For example, his extreme distaste for treachery among his men would likely mean that, since there is so little backstabbing among his own ranks, they are more effective as a whole, as well as more loyal, and thus able to more efficiently worship Khorne (no joke, Timur pretty much what a hyper competent 40k Chaos worshiper would be like IRL). Of course, June 22 1941 was the day of the German invasion of the USSR. In late 1942 Stalin was convinced to seal the tomb again and a few days later the USSR forces defeated the Germans at Stalingrad paving the way for an eventual USSR victory in the war.

The battle of Stalingrad wasn't turned by some sudden intervention. For at least a month (if not more, I'd have to check the date when it was decided to have the operation Uranus), the defenders inside the city were given just enough men and resources for them to be able to hold on to a small portion of the city and keep the Germans engaged, while a huge, over a million strong army was slowly being assembled and deployed in the rear. This army then punched through weak points in the Axis defenses both north and south of the city (the less well equipped German allies were completely wiped out) poured into the rear of the Axis forces and secured a belt around the city (and the German Sixth Army in and around it) that was too wide (and held very securely by the aforementioned million Soviets) for a breakout or a relief force to get through. If the Soviets did have any help, it came from Hitler and Goering - the latter boasted that he would be able to supply the city by air after if it "temporarily" gets cut off, and the former believed him. The result was that the Sixth Army, the strongest that the Germans had, did not try to retreat or break out early on while it had a chance, and was thus left to wither away as their supplies slowly ran out, adding the loss of a huge number of men (and not insignificant amount of material) to the defeat in the battle.

It is indeed surprising that Ahmad ibn Arabshah whom you mention had hated Timur has strangely paid glowing tributes and effervescent praise upon him in his speech. This is not a new phenomenon. Many barbarians and psychopatic rulers in history like Ivan the Terrible, Vladd the Impaler, Attila the Hun, Hitler, Stalin, Mao have not only wielded absolute power but held in awe and had personality cult among their followers. I have heard that Timur is still considered a hero in Uzbekistan. This is indeed a subject which should be researched: as to why the bad guys or barbarians and violent rulers are worshipped, have the maximum fun and wield absolute power (even in modern research it is found that people with the dark triad of narcissism, psychopathy and machiavellianism are extremly successful as CEOs and rulers) while the "nice guys" are generally victims/laughing stock in public and get exploited and abused. This also rubbishes and makes useless the talk of "good triumphing over evil", when actually the reverse happens in reality most of the time.
@ajas78513 жыл бұрын
@RM: It appears that you have completely misunderstood and not comprehended what I was trying to mention..I have nowhere mentioned that Timur was worshipped by Muslims..I have said that he is seen as a hero in uzbekistan which is borne by facts...Furthermore I was not discussing only timur but I had mentioned that in various historical epochs, evil persons masquerading as good have dominated over empires..Furthermore the sacking of cities and mass murders done by timur have been illustrated by the narrator in the video and not by me...such actions are not those of a good ruler...therefore please first carefully read what I have mentioned which has nothing to do with Islam instead of reacting on your personal biases/prejudice...

It is entirely possible to respect the great achievements of a man while acknowledging his evil deeds. Caesar is one of my favorite historical figures but he was still an evil man who killed and enslaved the innocent. Men respect strength, and the men who excel in war do tend to be violent men.
@ajas78512 жыл бұрын
@Liberty Prime I agree with your viewpoint..However just because a person has significant achievements does not mean that he/she is absolved of their evil deeds..even Hitler commanded a lot of respect and admiration of the German people initially but later went to ignominy due to the holocaust.. Furthermore strength need not necessarily be understood as using violence or fighting wars..in earlier times violence did give an edge however in today's age of nuclear weapons strength by violent means has become irrelevant..so the definition of strength keeps on changing..strength in modern times largely depends upon brainpower and also denotes one's ability to excel in a particular field like sports, fine arts, science, literature, etc.. also noone excels in violence as it leads to a vicious cycle which subsumes everyone..violence has never been effective in history towards resolving conflict even though humanity strongly believes in it..even Caesar was finally assassinated by Brutus and his own inner circle, so his evil deeds came back upon him in a karmic fashion..

A very nice video about Aksak Timur (that's how he is called in my language), although I didn't get the point about Timur bringing an overall negative impact on history. These were the harsh times and no war was done without the blood. Amir Timur for me always was an interesting figure, sometimes controversial. All the slaughter he did to the Golden Horde I guess was because he was outraged by Tokhtamysh's betrayal. The more interesting fact is that basically destroying of Golden Horde by Timur let the Russian principalities rebel successfully against the Horde. One interesting fact of Timur: when he was staying with his army on a territory of modern Bashkortostan which is located by Ural mountains Timur erected Hüseyin Bey Türbesi in honour of Hüseyin Bey who was on the first man to bring Islam to these lands.

Islam The Beautiful Religion ( Be Just ) Quran 5:8 '' O you who believe! stand out firmly for God, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the HATRED OF OTHERS TO YOU make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear God. For God is well-acquainted with all that ye do. '' Quran 4:58 '' Indeed, God commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which God instructs you. Indeed, God is ever Hearing and Seeing.'' ( God's The Rules Of War ) Quran 2:190 '' Fight in the way of God THOSE WHO FIGHT YOU but do not transgress. Indeed. God does not like transgressors. '' Quran 2 :193 '' And fight them on until there is no more oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression. '' Quran 4:90 ''.........So if they withdraw from you and cease their hostility and offer you peace, in that case Allah has not granted you permission to fight against them.'' Quran 8:61 ''And if they seek peace, then you also seek it, and put your trust in God. He is the Hearer, the Knowledgeable.'' ( Stand Up For Justice ) Quran 4 :135O '' Ye who believe! stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to God, even as against YOURSELVES, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for God can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest ye swerve, and if ye distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily God is well-acquainted with all that ye do.'' ( Who Are The Good Human Beings? ) Quran 177 '' Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in God, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, IN SPITE OF LOVE FOR IT, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives charity; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous. '' ( Freedom To Believe And To Reject ) Quran 2:256 '' Let there be no compulsion in religion. Truth stands out clear from error '' Quran 10:99 '' And had your Lord willed, those on earth would have believed - all of them entirely. Then would you compel the people in order that they become believers? '' ( Tolerance For Other Religions ) Quran 109: 1- 6 Say,"O disbelievers, I do not worship what you worship. Nor are you worshipers of what I worship. Nor will I be a worshiper of what you worship. Nor will you be worshipers of what I worship. For you is your religion, and for me is my religion." ( Protection for Idol Worshiper ) Quran 9:6 "And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah. Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is because they are people who do not know. " Quran16:125 “Call people to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good teaching, and argue with them in the most courteous way” Quran7:199 “Be tolerant....” ( Friendship With Non Muslims ) Quran 60:8 '' God does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, God loves those who act justly. '' ( Do Christians And Jews and "OTHER" non-Muslims go to Heaven? ) Quran 2:62 '' Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,->ANY { On Judgement Day } ( According to the Quran Christians and Jews worship TRUE God ) (Quran 3:113-114) '' Not all of them are alike: Of the People of the Book ( Christians and Jews ) are a portion that stand (For the right): They rehearse the Signs of God all night long, and they prostrate themselves in adoration. They believe in God and the Last Day; they enjoin what is right, and forbid what is wrong; and they hasten (in emulation) in (all) good works: They are in the ranks of the righteous.'' Note: According to the Quran that Jesus is not God nevertheless Christians still worship one '' TRUE '' God. ( Allah Is The Protector Of Monasteries, Churches, Synagogues And The Mosques ) Quran 22:40 [They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right - only because they say, "Our Lord is God ." And were it not that God checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of God is much mentioned. And God will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, God is Powerful and Exalted in Might. ( Why Are There So Many Different Religions In The World ? ) Quran 5 48 ''...... If God wanted He could have made all of you a single nation. But He willed otherwise in order to test you in what He has given you;(scriptures) therefore try to excel one another in good deeds. Ultimately you all shall return to God; then He will show you the truth of those matters in which you '' DISPUTE.'' NOTE: Quran 3:85 ''If anyone desires a religion other than Islam ("submission" to God), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good)'' My explanation of above verse Islam mean "submission" to God ( The above verse saying is that God will not accept a religion from the "MUSLIM" and the Non-Muslims but total "submission" to God.) Question: How Can Muslim And the Non-Muslim "submit" to the God? Answer: Be kind to other human beings and Do not lie, Do not steal, Do not cheat, Do not hurt others, Do not be prideful and Do the charity work. ( God Allow Muslims To Marry And Eat Food From the Christian And Jew And Vice Versa ) Quran 5;5 ''This day [all] good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture ( Christian and Jew) is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And [lawful in marriage are] chaste women from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture ( Christian and Jew) before you, when you have given them their due compensation, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking [secret] lovers. And whoever denies the faith - his work has become worthless, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.'' ( Kindness Toward Atheists / Apostate ) Quran 60:8 '' As for such [of the unbelievers( atheist)] as do not fight against you on account of [your] faith, and neither drive you forth from your homelands, God does not forbid you to show them kindness and to behave towards them with full equity: for, verily, God loves those who act equitably. '' ( All The Terrorists / Killers Will Enter Hell Fire ) Quran 5:32 "......Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely......" ( Turned Your Enemies Into Your Best Friends ) Quran 41:34 "The good deed and the evil deed are not alike. Repel the evil deed with one which is better, then lo! he, between whom and thee there was enmity (will become) as though he was a bosom friend." ( The Husband and The Wife Are > Protecting Friends < One Of Another ) Quran 9:71 ''And the believers, men and women, are > Protecting Friends < one of another; they enjoin the right and forbid the wrong, and they establish worship and they pay the poor-due, and they obey God and His messenger. As for these, God will have mercy on them. Lo! God is Mighty, Wise.'' Quran16:97 “To whoever, male or female, does good deeds and has faith, We shall give a good life and reward them according to the best of their actions. Quran 30:21 “And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy…” The Prophet Muhammad said, “Heaven lies under the feet of your mother.” ( Human Are One family ) Quran 49:13 " O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of God is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And God has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things)." ( All The Racist People Will Enter Hellfire ) Quran 30:22 "And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed in that are signs for those of knowledge." My comment: The '' BASIC '' message of God to the human is that '' YOU '' believe in God and be kind to other human beings / animals and in the RETURNED God will reward you with a new life in Paradise. * The Quran ONLY guides you how to become a good human being "Nothing Else". * You are a good human being or a bad human being that is YOUR choice. * No one can force you to become a good human being. * You MUST work HARD to become a good human being. * Why should ''YOU'' do good deeds and avoid bad deeds? * Do Good - it's for You. Do Bad - It's against you. * '' YOUR'' life is a TEST from God that you will choose to do either Good or Bad. * Find the excuse to help others and forgive others NOT the other way around. * '' YOUR '' final destination is either Hell or Heaven. * So work HARD toward choice of YOUR destination. Quran 17:7 '' If you do good, you will do so for your own good. And if you do evil, it will be to your own loss.''

Timur say his mother is from royal Persian line . Timur say his father is from Mongol line and common ancestor of Genghis Khan .Timur say his mother was descendant of the legendary Persian Hero-King Manuchehr .That would make Timur a man of Perso-Mongol origin according to himself .In reality Timur mother was named Tekina Khatun amd was probably a Mongol of lowly birth who was related to the Yasa'ur line ( Yasa'ur was the great-great-grandson Chagathai Khan ) or maybe she was from the line of Genghis Khan . Or she was daughter of Sadr al-Sharia who was from the Persian Hanafi scholar Ubayd Allah al-Mahbubi of Bukhara . So we have two sources that say she was either a lowly Mongol woman related to the Yasa'ur tribe or that she was related to Genghis Khan line ... And we have two sources that state that she was from either a Persian line of Sunni Hanafi scholar and the other source is Timur himself who said she was from the mythical royal Persian Manuchehr line . Not Turkic 🤣😂Timur skull is fully Mongoloid , some say he is tall because of his Persian / Iranic ancestry . Also if he was Turkicized then he was also Mongolisized and Persianized 🤣😂truth is that Timur was according to himself a half-Persian by his mother side and a half Mongol by his father side . Timur father ( Taraghai Noyan ) was the great-great-grandson of Qarachar Noyan the Mongol who was the general of Genghis Khan What of Timur was Turkic again ? 🤣😂
@Timurid13703 жыл бұрын
bro turkic people is actually persian. let me explain; Turkic history begins with first turkic khaganate and the official language was persian. The founder of turkic khaganate was Bumin Qhagan who came from a persian tribe ashina. They had persian traditions and made good relations with sassanid empire. Ashina believed to a iranic religion that is Zoroastrianism. When arabs took over all of the persia, both people adopted to islam. Persians and turks created new honorful empires together like ghaznavids seljuks and kwarazmians. They conquered the anatolia under a muslim persian commander Alparslan. In 1206 genghis khan united the all mongol and turkic tribes(mongolified persians) in mongolia. and the delhi sultanate (Turco-Persians) was busy on conquering india while genghis khan doing these things. The entire Turco-Persian world changed after the mongol conquest of khwarazm The mongols and various turkic nomads gave their DNA to the people who lives in iran. After 2 century. The persian hero Tamerlane came and conquered most of the middle east, sacked mamluks ottomans and delhi sultanate. let's talk about origin of the ottomans Osman (Founder of the ottoman empire) his ancestor was Alparslan who was a persian leader and ruled the seljuks,but unfortunately ottomans were arabized. they spoke persian for a century but after 1400's language of ottomans were arabic. Today on the world you can see 6 turkic originated states and you know Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan located in the central asia and they have "Stan" word which comes from persian language. These countries have persian traditions and speaks too different version of persian because of russia. Russia changed their language against qajar dynasty and called them as a different nation from persians maybe you cannot understand them but they actually speaking a language from iranic group. If we mentioned on Azerbaijan and Turkey, the azeri people has 100% persian ancestors and their language is very similar to persian language. Moreover 30 or 40 millions of azeri people lives in northern region of iran and they calling themself as persian. Turkey is only persian country which assimilated to a foreign race. :( so the Turkic people is actually an iranic tribe who assimilated by other nations I'm gonna leave some resources so you can read and correct me. ☺️ by the way may be I wrote some worng sentences by grammar, I apologise for this and sorry for my english. Respect from Sweden 🇸🇪 Have a nice day!

Love all your videos! This one was a little hard to follow at times, especially geographically--my personal preference would be to have more arrows showing the movements of armies and then, once they reach a city or region, KEEP some symbol or even a little dot there, then show another arrow with the army returning to Samarkand or whatever base city. I do like the images you always have but in this one, I was trying to follow the movement on the map but then every time Timur's army moved, immediately the map would be displaced by images from old art or a photo of a statue of a guy on a horse, etc. That style is pretty good when talking about a mostly sedentary story, e.g. the Abbasid Caliphate, but is hard to follow when an army is always on the go, conquering foes all around them--I want to know visually WHERE they are and, also, how and when they get back! Heck, you could even have a little blue arrow showing the movements of the enemy.
@d.m.collins15014 жыл бұрын
E.g. at 12:59 you tell us "Pir Muhammad then met Timur who was sweeping across Punjab. Cities like Pakpattan and Dipalpur were sacked, their population was slaughtered." Meanwhile you're showing us a map but with no indication WHERE on the map all this is taking place, where Pir Muhammad's armies came from, where they clashed. Heck, Pakpattan and Dipalpur aren't even on the map! These battles would be so much easier to follow and remember if we could have visual aids showing us the army movements and the clashes.

Tamerlane, or what is called today in Uzbekistan Amir Timur, established a Semi-Mongolic Dynasty in the late 14th century with the help of the Turkic tribes on the legacy of the Chagatai Khanate. Far from being a Turkic/Islamic state, his rule gave lots of harms on Islam and the Turkic world. First he fought with Toktamish Khan and demolished the Golden Horde in Eurasia, hereby paved the way for Russia's rise to power as an empire. Secondly, he attacked the Ottoman state and looted Anatolia and left the local people with pain, blood and tear. Due to his bloodthirsty ambitions on power, the conquest of Contantinople, modern day İstanbul, was delayed 50 years by the Ottoman Turks. His only intention to conquest a non-Islamic realm was China, but he could not have finished this duty, because Allah (c.c.) never destined him with this jihad and he died on his way to campaign over China. In brief, Tamerlane was a cruel tyrant, who committed atrocities with his superego and always wanted to be a sahibkìran with a nonesense desire to conquest of the territories for nothing like his predessccor and ancestor Ghenghiz Khan. But nevertheless, today's Uzbekistan is our Turkic brother country in Central Asia. It is more important not to repeat the mistakes of the past and we must desire a common and united future under the Organization of the Turkic States from now on. Selam from Türkiye to our blood-brothers and Muslim communities in Turkistan...

Damascus and Syria were part of the Mamluk Empire which was a Sunni state. The Mamluks were champions of Islam, they halted the Mongols, in 1291 they took the last Crusader strongholds and in 1375 conquered the Christian kingdom of Armenia. If Timur had not attacked Bayazid I, the Ottoman Sultan, Constantinople would have fallen fifty years sooner; the Byzantine Emperor had travelled to the West to ask for help in desperation. Nothing can justify the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of deaths that Timur caused, most of his victims being ordinary people, not soldiers who fought against him. One only need to compare Timur with such Muslim leaders as Nūr al-Dīn and Saladin, who fought hard against the Crusaders, but were renowned for their justice, piety and mercy.

First video I've seen on your channel and it's superb! Just subscribed! I'd love to see the map update with every battle you mention instead of just the big events. Also, seeing the city names on the map would help make it clearer. I don't know arabic so it's tough to keep the names straight without visual markers.

Thank you for the feedback! I agree with it. I realize Timur's movement is unclear. I've tried to change it since. I'll try to implement it as best I can.

Calling Tohtamysh a "pretender" is somewhat misleading, since he was in fact the nephew of the ruler. At this time this was more of a dynastic struggle within the ruling family, rather than an attempt at an actual usurpation. But in some ways this is the fault of the ambiguity of the English term than an error on your part. So I just wanted to tell the whole story, without necessarily saying that you did something incorrect.

Ahmad ibn Arabshah: Timur valued learned men, brave warriors and allowed women to fight in his armies. Because of this, he is a cursed infidel! Normal person: Um...yeah, aren’t you going to mention all those massacres and the destroying of architecture?

From a Turkish Sunni perspective, kudos to Timur and his soldiers for desecrating the graves of the low-lives who desecrated Islam. The Umayyad family has been the most sinister one among all the enemies of Islam. As for the modern adherents of the Umayyad ideology, whose whose life-long dream is to avenge this act, they are merely enamored with the idea of Arabic supremacism under the disguise of Islam. Whether Sunni or Shiite, no Muslim in his right mind would revere the Umayyad family, who massacred the Prophet's descendants and said "Today we have exacted revenge for the Battle of Badr". Those who do, as in the case of the boy who prepared this video, are only Arab racists who seek dominance in the Muslim world by using Islam against the Muslims. Calling Timur a barbarian and comparing him to Hitler but revering the real Hitlers of the day, the Umayyad family, who were the enemies of Islam and then adopted Islam for their tribalist interests and usurped the banner of Islam, massacred the Prophet's family as well as thousands of people in Iran and Turkistan. They set a perfect example for Arabic supremacists for generations to come. Timur really did good on their graves.

I was in Uzbekistan this spring/summer, and yes, Uzbeks do glorify him or at least, speak neutrally of him. I do understand the perspective that they have of him, but the fact that that outwheighs the millions of people he slaughtered, doesn't sit right with me

You are underestimating the mindset of kazhaks, uzbeks, kyrgyz, turkmens, azeris, tatars and turkish. They reap glory and esteem out of many things, including what the huns and mongols did to the europe. Great wall of china exists there for a reason
