Amira Willighagen ~ Live in Concert ~ Amazing Grace

Amira Willighagen appeared as a guest performer at the Classics is Groot concerts held in South Africa on 23 & 24 June 2017.
During these concerts she sang two solo numbers, viz. Nessun Dorma from the opera Turandot and the traditional hymn, Amazing Grace. She also performed The Flower Duet from the opera Lakmé, together with Corlea Botha. In addition, she collaborated with other artists on the show to perform two further numbers.

She was 9 year and she was winner of Hollands Got talent. She never had a teacher for learning to sing. Her brother has a violin she said and she wanted to do something too, so she went to watch KZbin and learned it because she liked it, without effort. Listening and imitating, until she was on stage in front of the Dutch Public and the Jury of the Hollands Got talent. She won and now lives in South Africa. I will never forget this little girl, aged 9 and singing like a nightingale so beautiful. She is very talented and a big wonder 🌹

Amira’s mother is South African by birth. Her father is Dutch. She was born and lives in the Netherlands.

I do not know much about classical singing, cannot say whether Amira is one of the best singers worldwide or not. But what draws my attention is the inner beauty of soul which shines through her singing. There's much more than just a correct singing technique. I hope that the upcoming professional carreer will never destroy it.

Copied and pasted the following: Those words are life reflections of John Newton, a slave trader who nearly died in a shipwreck, and who eventually became a minister. He penned the famous words of "Amazing Grace" for a sermon for his 1773 New Year's service at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. Amazing Grace" lyrics are based on John Newton's experience of receiving God's grace and mercy, despite the terrible things he had done. I have watched Amira throughout her young years and I am totally amazed at her gift of song.
