Great reaction, Lucie! At this concert she was 12, but already an absolute queen. She had to give this concert four times this year, because each time the tickets were completely sold out.

I like you thought of Opera as being stuffy. I went from being a lifelong fan of Elvis to now loving opera because of Amira. She’s an emissary for opera.

Great to see you back, Lucie: Amira draws us back again and again, for she gives classics a breath of fresh air, her pure tone and perfect control; she does leave today's pop singers and even her own peer group in the shade: they are great, too, whether her compatriot, Emma, or her 'neighbour', Lucy, or Angelina; but, Amira attains to perfection, doesn't she. If only we could hear her sing more often, each day.

A fantastic "Fantasia" reaction to Amira, as always Lucie. At age 12 she sang this in Italian, not big deal for Amira. Her father is Dutch, and her mother is from South Africa. She is fluent in Dutch, Afrikaans, and English. She has sung in these 9 languages, all by age 16 !! Dutch, Afrikaans, English, Italian, German, Swedish, Spanish, French, and Neapolitan

Amira takes your breath away! Here she is a 12 year old performing like a seasoned professional. Trying to remember what I was doing at 12? Amira is incomparable .Thanks for your great reaction couldn't agree more with your comments Lucie. God bless.

I love listening to Amira... I could listen to her for hours and not get tired of it... the song also has a beautiful message too... I had to look them up as I don't speak Italian. If you ever get a chance to watch it there's a short documentary of her I recently watched. She said when she sings she puts herself in the lyrics and music, and she, in her mind is in a different place besides being infront of the audience.

You said that opera is one of the hardest disciplines. But Amira makes it child’s play 😂. I’m 76 and I went from being an Elvis fan to being an Amira fan also. Everything she does is absolutely beautiful ❤. Looking forward to seeing your reactions to Amira. May God bless.

Great reaction, thanks! The melody Amira performed was originally, without any lyrics, the main theme of Ennio Morricone's soundtrack for the movie The Mission (by Roland Joffé, with Robert De Niro), called "Gabriel's oboe". Father Gabriel is a Jesuit Priest who wins the hearts of an entire Guarani village in Paraguay, just by playing this melody on his oboe. After the performance, it is sardonically said by a voice-over that "with an orchestra, the Jesuits could have subdued the whole American continent". Well, Amira has never intended to subdue anybody, but she can easily charm the whole world by singing, with or without the help of an orchestra... 😊 By the way, she was only 12 during this performance, which is just unbelievable...

Amira is a loan from heaven and we must be careful because they'll come from another world and will take her away from us. Amira has everything as an artist. Welcome back, Lucie! Although this is classic crossover, opera is Amira's favourite genre, so you might enjoy Nessun Dorma and also the Flower Duet (with Colea Botha), both in South Africa in 2017 (Classics in Groot). This song is based on the music for the film The Mission by Ennio Morricone.

Hello Lucie . I neither listened Opera music . Generally I hear rock or pop music but Amira catched me with her angelical voice and her golden heart . Anyway , you can hear to Amira singing too songs that arent Opera songs .Songs from musicals , like Memory ( from Cats ) The sound of music medley , 16 going to 17 and My favourite thing ( from the movie The sound of music ) Im so pretty ( from the movie West side story ) I dreamed a dream ( from Les miserables ) My fair lady ( that isnt in youtube ) and Somewhere over the rainbow ( from Wizard of Oz , that neither is in youtube ) Disney songs , like When you wish upon a star ( from the movje Pinoccio ) and How does a moment last forever ( from the movie Beauty and the Beast ) and other original songs wrote for Amira . Here Amira was only 12 years old and is so technically perfect for her age . Until now , you reacted to Amira until her 13 years old . One of her great performances, though she has had many. In my fantasy, i see a world living in harmony, where souls fly free, like the clouds. Amira singing lyrics like this turn the audience to quivering jelly. So beautiful. More recent songs by her include... Amen, with the Ndlovu choir. Gesu Bambino, with her father on organ. Holland's got talent All Stars anniversary show. Amira returns 10 years after her debut. All amazing performances. I love them.

This beautiful aria with music by Ennio Morricone from the film “The Mission,” and lyrics added by Chiara Ferraù is about an imaginary world of peace and harmony. I presume the implication is that this is the fantasy of the missionary which provokes enormous irony. The “mission” of the missionary is to persuade the indigenous people to abandon their cultural traditions and superstitions in favor of the missionary’s culture and superstitions. Europeans generally regarded indigenous peoples (all non-Europeans) to be “savages” in need of “salvation.” So the fantasy is presumably about a world of European culture and superstition, rather than of any sort of diversity or inclusion. The first 2 minutes is another Ennio Morricone composition called "The River" with the voices of the Mzansi Youth Choir, then Amira comes on stage for Nella Fantasia.
