Amira was 10 years old here. She has been singing since she was 7 and taught herself to sing with the help of KZbin videos. At 9 she won the 6th season of "Hollands got Talent". This is about half a year later and during this time she had lessons, among others Andre Rieu taught her a lot.

Ps she was NOT classical trained.she learned to sing like this by watching famous opera singers and sing along with them. Not even knowing what the words meant,( mostly Italian.) She is half Dutch, half South African. On top she is very sweet and humble . I am proud of our Dutch girls Amira, Emma , Davina Michele and Floor Jansen. All fantastic singers. Great reaction! Subscribed, Amira has been a lyric soprano since the age of 8. In classical singing, you can't sing by imitation, as in the pop genre, because you have to learn various advanced techniques, which take many years to master. Amira mastered them by the age of 9. Some say she is a force of nature, others say she is a gift from God, but everyone agrees that she is the best.

Actually Amira was 10 and is 20 now. She has millions of fans across the world, singing in around 11 languages, in three of which she is fluent. Her repertoire includes operatic arias, classic crossover, musicals, hymns, etc. Now living in South Africa, she sang two arias, Nessun Dorma, the Flower Duet (with Corlea Botha), plus Amazing Grace, at a concert in SA. Her Sound of Music Medley in the Sun Arena was excellent. More recently, she sung Gesu Bambino when visiting her father in the Netherlands. From around 12,500 audience with Andre to her father on the organ and a friend using a mobile phone, in an otherwise empty church.

Andre got her age wrong. She was 10. He had seen her on the talent show Hollands got talent 6 months earlier, when she was completely self taught, and 9. She won the show, he gave her a masterclass, and Sony got her to record an album. They arranged for her to start getting some coaching. She has a natural God given talent, but she also works hard to learn. One advantage she had was a love of athletic's, she had the lung a capacity to win a couple of long distance races in her class we are talking 15km - nearly 10 miles. There's 10 years back catalogue to explore, and it's all brilliant. She is still singing, she is actually performing tonight. Few suggestions Ave Maria, Gomez. 2015 Live in concert, Nella Fantasia. 2016. Amazing Grace. 2017 Gabriella's song 2018 Recent releases. Gesu Bambino, informal recording. A unique talent. There is her oficial channel on youtube - Amira Willighagen. There are so many amazing performances. An outstanding one is O Sole mio E di Capua, in this video she sings with Ben Hagen. Another , Gabriela's song - a recent one. She moved to South Africa, and has done a beautiful work promoting the etnic music. She is also involved in social beneficent actions.

This, in my opinion, is up there ( if not on top. ) with her best performances. …. … Nella Fantasia, live in concert at age 12 …. … Flower Duet with Corlea Botha at age 13 …. … Sound of Music medley at age 15. Amira sings one octave above the original by Julie Andrews & absolutely nails it. …. … The Lord’s Prayer at age 16. This is such a small sample to age 16 with so, so more for you to check out. There is also many more after age 16, although Covid put a stop on her recordings to a great extent. Two recent releases are “ Amen “ and “ Down From His Glory “ which are both magnificent. In my opinion, it's one of her best performances, maybe her very best, given her age. I can't even imagine how she could sing like that at 11 years old...

An angel sent by God to bring some love into a troubled world. She taught herself to sing opera by watching youtube vids of Maria Callas, and others. Watch her three performances on Hollands got talent at the age of 9. She had one singing lesson after her audition, then, she nailed the semifinals and the finals. She was actually 10 yrs and 5 months old in this performance with Andre. She began giving performances around the world and can sing in 8 different languages! While singing in S. Africa, she noticed that many of the schools for poor, black children, had no playgrounds. She then created a foundation in which she donated half of her earnings from singing to the building of playgrounds, with equipment, for underfunded schools. So far, her foundation has built 18 playgrounds! She has professed a strong faith in God and is loved by millions of fans worldwide. After watching the HGT appearances, watch her performance of the Flower Duet with Corlea Botha, it is very well done.

In case you're not aware of this - O mio Babbino Caro (O my dear papa) comes from the opera "Gianni Schicchi", written by Puccini, in 1918. Amira actually sang the aria twice, in this performance.

@georgesthibaudeau - The explanation of "love in Venice" is that that is the name of the Andre Rieu DVD on which this performance was recorded. The Vrijthof Square in Maastricht was decorated with a replica of the "Rialto" bridge in Venice, for the series of concerts. Amira's performance came immediately after the interval.
