Dope Hardware same, most of the time when they rap fast it’s just nonsense until the last line when it’s usually a punchline, but it’s just not enjoyable to listen to bc I have no idea what they’re saying, a lot of rappers think that the faster they rap then the better they are which is not the case

My bad opinion on music back in the day was when I was in high school and I always thought mainstream trap artists were trash just because they were mainstream and I felt they were interchangable. I think I used to think this way because I wanted to be different and the ones I did listen to were "under the radar". This is one of the reasons why I didn't fully listen to artists like 21, Uzi, and Future until I was out high school and in my freshmen year of college.

I use to think fast or lyrical rap was the way to go back when I was 13. I kinda grew out of it after a year mainly because I discovered other artists and overall expanded who I listen to. I think people who have these close-minded views regarding music are either young people who don't know any better or oldheads who think any rapper who isn't from the 90s are trash.

Music and basketball are different forms of entertainment but still entertainment, so if a player is constantly scoring but being cocky on the court and he acts like a dick is just as bad as someone with an ugly voice singing/rapping in my ear, Look at Eminem, he’s voice is generally not liked because he constantly goes for more aggressive and faster rapping and it’s very clear that his voice sounds better when he slows down

Opposite of what you felt about Nick Cannon I felt about Puff Daddy, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, and Nelly. From the late 1990s to the early 2010s, if you were not lyrical (Eminem, Wu-Tang), if you didn’t have beats that sounded 1990s like, or if you were not underground (MF Doom, Immortal Technique), you were trash. I resented Puff, Nelly, Ludacris & Wayne the most because when they started getting mainstream airplay, that’s when music from the radio went from the streets/lyrics to the bling bling era, (what I portrayed as) fake lavish lifestyle with pop beats. As I grew older I realized those 4 rappers are not as bad as I thought and it made me tolerate most of the new rappers that have came out. I like Yachty and Uzi but don’t think I would have liked them a decade ago. Don’t get me wrong I still wouldn’t put Wayne, Puff, Nelly, Luda on my Mt Rushmore, and I still like lyrics and the underground, but I have opened up my eyes and tolerated all forms of Hip-Hop from all eras!!!

I definitely agree about the delivery mattering and not just for rap, but for all music. There are some songs where a singer’s voice is just so powerful or they add something extra to the delivery that makes it impossible to replicate and is part of what makes the song so good.

I think the 90s had the best lyrical talent then everything started to slump and now we are actually growing at a very respectable rate in terms of the use of lyrics No more of people using the same word to rhyme like in the early 2010's, I am looking at 2 Chainz and Future. And now rapper punchlines really kick harder and are more straightforward I think honestly hip hop has been really improving as much as we try to deny it

I used to only like that corny ass spiritual lyrical miracle “real rap” bullshit. I also used to think Logic was one of the hardest rapper too. Thank goodness I grew out of that shit

That whole bit where you "can't judge an artist because of their voice" is so understandable. If I'm listening to a track where hear The Weeknd and I'm just vibing out, and then the next minute I hear uzi vert, I'm skipping that entire verse cause he sounds like a fork scratching slowly on a chalkboard.

I think it’s for being influenced by older people, I listened to Eminem because my older sister listened to him, and I got in that whole “lyrical is the only good rap” mindset, and yea it makes you feel like only you have the correct views on music when you don’t, I honestly stopped listening to Eminem and his offsprings in general and I’m just enjoying music a lot more now

Here's a pretty bad music opinion I used to have,I used to think that every rapper nowadays was horrible, then I realized something (well 3 things actually) 1-I haven't listened to every rapper from the 2010s onward 2-There are legitimately good rappers nowadays, but I just disregarded them because they're new 3-I judged them just based on a few songs, which I think is too harsh and unfair
