My bad opinion on music back in the day was when I was in high school and I always thought mainstream trap artists were trash just because they were mainstream and I felt they were interchangable. I think I used to think this way because I wanted to be different and the ones I did listen to were "under the radar". Music and basketball are different forms of entertainment but still entertainment, so if a player is constantly scoring but being cocky on the court and he acts like a dick is just as bad as someone with an ugly voice singing/rapping in my ear, Look at Eminem, he’s voice is generally not liked because he constantly goes for more aggressive and faster rapping and it’s very clear that his voice sounds better when he slows down

Opposite of what you felt about Nick Cannon I felt about Puff Daddy, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, and Nelly. From the late 1990s to the early 2010s, if you were not lyrical (Eminem, Wu-Tang), if you didn’t have beats that sounded 1990s like, or if you were not underground (MF Doom, Immortal Technique), you were trash. I resented Puff, Nelly, Ludacris & Wayne the most because when they started getting mainstream airplay, that’s when music from the radio went from the streets/lyrics to the bling bling era, (what I portrayed as) fake lavish lifestyle with pop beats. As I grew older I realized those 4 rappers are not as bad as I thought and it made me tolerate most of the new rappers that have came out. I like Yachty and Uzi but don’t think I would have liked them a decade ago. Don’t get me wrong I still wouldn’t put Wayne, Puff, Nelly, Luda on my Mt Rushmore, and I still like lyrics and the underground, but I have opened up my eyes and tolerated all forms of Hip-Hop from all eras!!!
