That was definitely not a very good sales person quality however, the whole mom comment I think was good. From my experience in retail, people don’t want to just hear, “Yeah! That looks great!” for everything. People want honesty. Of course it depends the customer. There are some people who just want to hear that they look good but then there are some that are only going to buy things if you’re honest with them and let them know what’s more flattering and what’s less flattering. That's one thing I really admire about the Amish, they do raise their families very very traditional old school, but when they feel they're old enough to make responsible decisions they allow and encourage them to go out into the world and decide for themselves if they want to live in the modern world or the Amish world.

Their grandma reminds me of mine! She's a totally different person when she's not around church and society people! Which is nice, because, getting to grow older, and to actually become her friend, and not just one of her many grandkids humanized her, a lot. And all these many years later, she's still one of my favorite people, and best friends. In some ways I feel bad for my cousins who don't know her like I do. But, at the same time, I love being her "special one.". Especially when on paper, I'd probably be expected to be the black sheep, instead if the golden child!
