Amitav Ghosh discussed "Gun Island" at the 2019 Library of Congress National Book Festival in Washington, D.C.
Amitav Ghosh was born in Calcutta and grew up in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. He studied in Delhi, Oxford and Alexandria and is the author of "The Circle of Reason," which was awarded France's Prix Médicis, and "The Shadow Lines," which won two prestigious Indian prizes. His many works include "The Calcutta Chromosome," winner of the Arthur C. Clarke Award; "Sea of Poppies," which was short-listed for the Man Booker Prize; and the "Ibis Trilogy": "Sea of Poppies," "River of Smoke" and "Flood of Fire." His work has been translated into more than 30 languages. Ghosh's new novel is "Gun Island."
