Contour farming - barriers present at the sides of the farming land to avoid the soil erosion and it will slow down the water movement. Terrace farming - This farming can be seen in mountains and plateaus. eg: tea plantation. Wide steps created on the slopes to avoid the soil erosion. (this wide steps should not allow the soil to flow down freely to the bottom of the plateau/mountains).

Besides, land also supports wild life, natural vegetation, transport and communication activities. Ninety five percent of our basic needs and requirements like food, clothing and shelter are obtained from the land. 2) Nine Main Causes of Land Degradation are as follows: Deforestation: Forests play an important role in maintaining the fertility of the soil by shedding their leaves which contain many nutrients Excessive Use of Fertilizers and Pesticide Overgrazing Salination Water-logging Desertification Soil erosion Wasteland
