@@jasonlisonbee On the motorway in my country they still use a system that calculates your average speed over at distance, using nothing more than a couple of internal timers. When you pass a given point, the operator in the car will press a button to start your timer, when the operator passes the point himself, he will press another button to start his timer. After a mile or so, he will again pick a spot and when you pass, stop your timer, and when he passes he stops his own timer. You would have to get a LOT of REALLY BIG fines and frequently for this to ever be a break even proposition since most large fines can be pled down to parking offenses and what not. James G to tell you the truth this is my second one as I didn’t take the first one (same exact system) and regretted it when I had to pay another 10k Or thereabouts, I’m sure in other states one could find someone to do it for way less though. He did a real custom job where it looks factory installed and could be concealed and stuff, display was up high and control panel was on middle console for easy access; over 40 billable install hours. But I’d just take the main units, receiver, jammers, control, and not necessarily remove all the cabling if too much of a pain; at least saving me from buying a new unit altogether. I’ve had this unit since 2013 and it’s still top of the line; updates are done wirelessly on it too. I hate driving without it really. I know I’ll never recover my 20k in at this point, and I never thought It would actually save me anything close to cost, but I can’t imagine driving any other car without it now. Still works amazing, I love the 5-10 second heads up especially in oncoming traffic front side.

"On your guard" this is not about the speed anymore, it's pure about the money. If you find me speeding through a school zone and you catch me, fine by me. If I am going 5 above the speed at 2am in the morning on a road with no lighting and no cars right after a speed change. That's a rip off. I am certain that 95 percent of the detector sells are people tired of being ripped off at one point or another. Previous year I recieved six tickets. All of them taken in a speed change zone, where the speed went from 70 to 50. I always easy off the gas, as I don't slam the brakes and all my tickets show this. 59,53,55,58,.... and so on.

This should be the top comment. That list of states where laser jammers are illegal got that long because of individuals repeated driving past cops shooting laser and jamming them over and over again. Had they been responsible users they would have jammed until they slowed down, and then turned their jammers off giving the officers a speed reading. This is known in the countermeasures world as JTK or Jam to Kill. www.rdforum.org/content/jam-to-kill-jtk/ The officers would be none the wiser. I feel eventually jammers are going to be made illegal state by state, all because of the actions of a few irresponsible individuals.

I rock both Laser jammers and Radar Detectors and travel up the East Coast and/or do rallies. When I get to VA I unplug my detector and my Laser Jammer system can turn into a parking sensor system with a flip of a switch and/or after 10 seconds of jamming. The major thing VA goes for are the detectors, they even sit on the borders on 95 to catch people crossing.

Excellent video, one of the best ones on KZbin. Not to burst anybody’s bubble, but a police officer who uses these tools to mesure one’s speed can estimate at +or - 3-4 mph the speed of a given vehicle. When they work a stretch of highway for hours on end every day, it becomes easier and easier to estimate the speed of vehicles. Normally, a visual estimation of a vehicle’s speed carries a lot of weight in court, specially when confirmed by a radar or laser gun. The bottom line, save yourselves a ton of money and do not speed excessively on the road. Remember, police officers can simply follow you at night or day and use their own speed to convict you and this, without using their radar or laser guns. Submitted for your information only! Have a great one!

Of course, you can get cheaper ALP which has more features than Escort's junk systems. But this is an Escort-sponsored video so you will never hear anything about other options from a person who made this video ;-)
@Beer_Dad19755 жыл бұрын
Yeah Escort have unfortunately become overpriced, under-performing junk, they are basically skating on their brand recognition now. Sure it'll do the job, but like you say you could get a system with better Ka band detection ability and laser jammers for a fraction of the cost - only disadvantage is you don't get the stealthy install - but even if you want a hidden system and don't care about money there are still better, cheaper options than Escort now.

NoooUGH Yep! Also, Vortex radar tested all those and only ONE passed -- the ALP. Not sure about this new one from Escort though. maybe it will also pass. But clearly, the ALP is much less and WORKS. The R1, also arguably the best detector you can get today......and it's REASONABLE.

For a high end radar detector, laser jammer, and laser shifter. Plus having them 3D print a custom windshield mount along with installing it on an expensive car like his. CT and VA were the last two states to ban radar detectors, but back around 1980(?) CT got sued and the US Supreme Court told them, that's illegal, only the FCC can regulate radios. Tickets used to be dirt cheap, but in many states they've gotten very expensive, + the extra insurance you'll pay, + I think in many places if you're 20 over they can arrest you on the spot and tow your car. @985bully5 жыл бұрын
Well then let’s talk about how much it cost on the video then. If you took it somewhere to have it installed and the fact that you work on cars tells me it’s somewhat more complex than the average Joe can’t do or willing to attempt. When you have to take the whole front clip off and the rear and all the plastics that takes time. Along with all the wires you have to hide to make it look nice. Remember time is money. So if you want it nice looking you get what you pay for. Also most car shops that do installs don’t have 3D printers. Better shops that do you pay the price. I think it looks great when it was done. I just don’t see it worth the money spent for the results. I’d rather spend it on something else like suspension or engine mods. But if you have that type of money to blow and feel it’s worth it great for you.
@robm4255 жыл бұрын
@@985bully The fact that they test their set-ups with a Lidar gun makes it worth it. I do know installers on Radar Detector forum which do the same but they don't do 3d printed mirror housings. They can still use visual speed assessment if they want.....making a radar sense/laser scrambler system almost useless. However I’ve tried them when I was an escort dealer roughly 10 years ago and they would alert very early! With a windshield mounted detector(Model 8500 or 9500) I was getting alerts so early I thought the detector was faulty. Turned out it wasn’t defective, it was detecting cruisers which were around 1-2 miles behind my vehicle. That was years ago....they must have insane range now! They make the best detectors in my book👍
@RpTheHotrod5 жыл бұрын
Personally, with how unreliable radar is, I think they should be banned from use. I was going 30 in a 30 (known speed trap, lived there for 6 months, police station is literally on the same road, and the road has pot holes and gravel debris). Even if I WAS a speeder, I wouldn't be speeding on that road. Got pulled over because the officer's radar claimed I was going 50 mph. There were no other cars around. The fact it can give off such bad readings should flat out eliminate it from use...as it's clearly flawed. This affects people's lives...it's not just speeding ticket costs, but it also affects their insurance rates. In my case, there was nothing I could do. I got the dash cam of the police officer...and as expected, no evidence of speeding. It was blatantly obvious I wasn't speeding. However, the judge refused to review the footage because she said it didn't matter since she doesn't do dismissals in her court. I either would have to draw it out to a jury trial, or just take deferred.
