It’s great isn’t it. Really impressive how they were able to build a game around essentially one enemy. A lot of studios could have attempted that and it just get tiring extremely quickly, but Frictional completely pulled it off imo, and then some It has the vibe of an end-of-level boss….but for the entire game

46:07 This man gets it. Exploding barrels are the surest sign that the game wants you to have fun. I'll never forget rolling one into the prison, taking a blind shot while falling back, and the shot missed but the monster set it off anyway. Big eureka moment that opened up some options with getting around. Thanks for this playthrough! Big fan of Frictional's work, and the Bunker was a great game - a concise horror experiment with fantastic atmosphere, both challenging the player and trusting them to think outside the box. I went back and played the original Penumbra tech demo after this, and it's neat to see their game design progression over the years (it even opens with a blackout and fueling a generator!) Had a lot of fun replaying this one, and here's hoping other horror games take a few notes from it!

To be honest, I cheated with soldiers' boxes when I played. I found codes for them and then stupidly restarted the game and opened them because there is no need to return to these locations. you acted very meanly when you left the detonator handle in the catacombs because I just stupidly didn’t find it, and returning there is a whole story, and in addition, in order to get to one location, I need to go through all the circles of hell to a completely different place, getting, for example, a rag so that later I could calmly go back through the rats.

This is so cool, seeing that even the creative lead gets tense playing his own game. Says a lot about the quality of this title. Frictional hasn't ever disappointed. I absolutely loved the design. Playing it, it really feels like every little action has to be carefully thought out. Personally, when the monster shows up I always close doors really slowly, move chairs around as carefully as possible; just to make as little noise as possible in order to hide 😂. I think what makes this game truely shine is how the locations of ressources and the codes are randomized so that there is always the fear of the unknown. @11:59- I am seriously impressed with the fact that despite the of noting of luck finding a generous stash of grenades, the absolute moment the generator stopped chugging & The Stalker elated in the hunt?? That he instantly, yet subtly shifted to a heightened reflexive state of alertness & even turned to view his exit: proving in that genuine moment how he was psychologically affected by his own creative title!! To where he completely forgot about extremely useful gas grenade… he definitely kept his composure the entire play through, but that pretty much says it all about the quality of The Bunker… magnificent

It's a very unique game. I don't think anyone else has done immersive sim gameplay and survival horror together before, but they fit like a hand and a glove. I suggest trying out just plain old immersive sims if you haven't already. Dishonored 1/2, Prey, and Deus Ex 1, Deus Ex HR and Deus Ex MD if you haven't already. In terms of horror itself and the feeling of being totally alone and immersed in a terrifying setting, Silent Hill 2 on PC or PS2 is a must play. Honestly, SH1-4 are all excellent in that regard.

It would be more imerssive if the voice acting were made by french actors and if the signs and fuel tanks were written in French, since the game takes place in a French bunker. Got cornered in the chapel this morning against a decently aggressive monster, had a mask and threw a gas grenade after letting it spot me from behind the table (literally no other option, that place is my bane) wrapped around the table after coaxing it the other way intentionally tripped a gas trap that spawned in the chapel hallway went to activate another when it barreled out of a tunnel to cut me off which forced me to run BACK INTO the chapel to wait until I heard it crawl back into a hole, mad dashed through the workshop tunnel just having to tank the rats and hobble all the way back to the safe area. I LOVE this game, the best way I can describe it to friends is that it's like everything great about Monstrum (which I think you'd enjoy if you've not played it) but somehow improved ten-fold and made just as terrifying.

Ooh this is a cool idea for a video. I have yet to do my own Shellshock playthrough, but I'm definitely gonna come back to check this out after I do it. Currently playing through Rebirth, just finished The Dark Descent for the very first time, and after Rebirth I'm gonna do a Shellshocked or Custom Difficulty playthrough of The Bunker to see all the new goodies waiting for me. I'll probably chicken out of Limited saves lol, but that will just give me incentive to try and challenge myself with a proper limited save run down the line. Look forward to checking this out when I finish my playthrough. Don't want any "spoilers" for what's in store for me so I shall return.

I remember seeing that water segment and my PTSD from water level in the dark descent went full in. I've stumbled near the water edge for full minutes before mastering the courage to venture forward.

I recently played this and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not usually my cup of tea, these games. But this takes a worthy spot in my collection right next to Alien Isolation and SOMA. Fantastic work

RIGHTTT??? that’s how different this game is, you never think about basic stuff cuz every other game that’s recently released is so linear (but not all) and it makes ya overlook the basics. i didn’t know you could kill rats by dropping heavy items on them

@@Los_Freddos I rewatched this moment a couple of times and little confused: Have you implemented a ballistics system in game or does the bullet arrive instantly? Could this random shot cause harm or is it necessary that the player was detected (TDD vibe siren, etc) by NPC?
