Cedtim sometimes also example in Sewers you really had to look around the corner to see the Brute guarding the exit. It just really huge risk. Though first time you hear the brute theme its only cinematic encounter luckily. but clever programming they did.

It's crazy how well this game plays on your nerves. I found playing it absolutely exhausting just because I was terrified all the time. I realised that when the ambient theme started playing and I immediately felt relieved and exhaled loudly. I also started wondering how I could make poor Daniel sit down.

Daniel clenched together as the sudden sound he heard in the distance grew louder and louder. Goosebumps now possessing his body. Daniel knew what it was and it terrified him. Daniel stud in the corner of the room petrified with horror. His heart now beating faster and faster as he heard the footsteps and the creaking of the old wooden floor becoming louder and louder. Suddenly breeze of wind of air blowing out the candles. And in the darkest of moments he heard it. The low pitched sound which was the growl, of the gatherers. He quickly turned his lamp on and then he saw him. His pale skin, the last strips of hair on the gatherers head, the last reminders that the disfigured thing was once a man. It felt like hours till the gatherer started making his assault on the already mentally dead Daniel. He ran towards him with his broken body. His clawed „hand“ moving to make the swing that would end this nightmare. And like a breeze of god Daniel could finally move. Running from the horror that was a broken soldier. Daniel just ran, ran knowing that if he looked back he would have taken his last breath. Suddenly out of nothing it appeared like a gift of the gods it was. It was the only thing that could save him from ending like the countless victims before that. It was the chapter door. Daniel ran through it and what he saw was the most beautiful thing. It was the sunlight coming through the tall windows of the Back Hall. Daniel knew he had survived. But for how long?

The reason Amnesia is better than other horror games is because it doesn't simply rely on jump scares. It manages to get you absolutely terrified even when nothing is actually happening. Alot of the time, it's your own mind tearing you apart while you creep the dark halls of the castle. That's the most impressive attribute of this game, in my opinion.

I don't think you guys realize how terrifying this music is on the human mind. Imagine walking in your basement at night. Seems easy right? As soon as you put this on in your head, you cannot think strait anymore, it makes you shake and think there is something in the dark hunting you and looking for its prey. It can take the most stable people in the world and bring them to their knees when locked in a dark room and told that something is hunting them, even when there is nothing. It proves that paranoia can overwhelm any person and cause them to break down.

All jokes aside, these are two iconic themes, perfectly fit for two equally iconic monsters. Besides the Amnesia series, Mikko Tarmia has created some of the most memorable themes/chase themes for monsters and enemies in horror games. He really knows how to set the overall mood and tone with his music. He's incredibly talented, and a legend.

Normally Horror games go for a "pop up" scare, basically having the monster go "BOO!" so you give a yell and pump it full with led but amnesia takes it a step further, they alert you that the monster is near by, but not WHERE it is, and sense you KNOW you can't fight it, it fills you with dread for the possibility of encountering it "I know he is here, but is he in front of me? Behind me? Too the room at the side? is he going away from me or coming towards me?" THAT is TRUE terror!

The creepy thing with Brutes is that they are small compared to grunts. So,i once had the brilliant idea of looking at it,and to my eyes it looked like some gross hybrid of a boy with a deformed head who was running at me with a very creepy way of moving,and really fast. And i have a specific fear of undead children,especially those running at me, so you can guess my reaction and the nightmare that followed... :'(

It was definitely put into the music. I guess they did it so you can easily distinguish between the two. In the second one (which starts at 0:59) you can hear Servant Grunt's whimpering and groaning in certain parts. I find it very clever and it makes the whole experience so much more horrifying. After listening to it again you can definitely hear Brute's deep grunts after some of the creaking noises if you listen really closely.

Brute searching theme. The themes are important for us casual players who avoid encounters, as they indicate if the brute is still enabled. When the music stops, the enemy is despawned. I think in choir, it doesn't despawn at all. I abused this many times. Second is grunt searching theme, the most common one..

When I got there I had a close call with one, I was going across the bridge, he went past on the side I was heading to, I backed up and hid around a pillar. It then came over and I had to maneuver to the opposite side of the pillar to him, he went back across the bridge and I immediately left. I mean, holy shit I was holding my breath for that.
