When I've started my journey, some 5 years ago, I was immersed at first into the law of attraction practises, wanting to change how I feel, trying constantly tell myself a better feeling thoughts in order to change how I feel (because oh boy, you will manifest something unwanted into your reality). But something much deeper happened when I allowed everything, including my emotional states to be as they are, to sit with my grief and disappointment, just letting go of my control of anything. At that time you feel really scary, because you feel like standing on the brink of an abyss and falling down without parachutea. It opens up really you to the deeper dimension of reality of who you are, beyond transient emotions. I like Amoda. I've heard about her very accidently just a few days ago, and almost read her book sitting full two days.

Thank you for writing out your experience. I have yet to be successful in not reacting to the conditioning of personality. The failures seem to occur because of the immense fear. Read ing what you wrote helps. Like a promise for something on the other side of the fear. Again, thank you so much for sharing. Sometimes it is hard to find someone to talk to about the nuts and bolts of the process.

@@mojamurphy4905 yes, it seems spiritual teachers are quite adept at this, save a few.

There is no need to react to conditioning or personality. Reaching is natural and happens when you are in natural flow. Rather shift attention towards subtle Resistances than rather trying to be an idea of who you think you should. Also remember that you don't know how Amoda acts when she isn't speaking at Satsangs

Has a very similar feel to Unmani's sound and manner!

satsang voice .. her knowledge is profound, the measured delivery can sound just a bit fake, not natural, contrived, designed for the consumption of an audience predisposed to being hypnotized .. i am sure she doesn't talk like this in the grocery store, and i personally would prefer the grocery store amoda voice deliver her teachings .. i don't need the soporific

Yes, there are similarities in how they express this wisdom. You may perhaps also be interested in this interview with Amoda: awareness-now.org/?p=2312

@@gregorylent I suspect that the "measured delivery" that you dislike so much, has to do with the fact that she is not discussing how to buy the freshest produce, but rather she is addressing the razors edge of what keeps us from genuinely awaking (the most serious subject on the planet). In fact her slow delivery and long pauses does not "hypnotize" me, but rather helps the message percolate down into a deeper understanding. Because of this I deeply appreciate her delivery. Good luck, I hope you find a teacher/part time grocery clerk, that meets your needs.

@@jamesthomas1244 precisely. people who get drowsy, in my experience, to any of the true teachers, there's a sort of built in egoic mechanism to not hear the message. since they are conditioned by a bombastic media/lifestyle it's almost as if they're unable to allow even the slightest hint of silence or slowing-down into their experience. An unwillingness to wake up for sure. But all that's fine. All in due time.

@@gregorylentI think this is sort of her natural speaking voice… when she lengthens s(s)… I find it brings me Present. At first, years ago, it irritated me a little. 😁 Different accents can do this to me sometimes… Definitely requires a letting go. 🙏🙃🙂
