Amol Palekar is so polite and soft spoken. Sounds like a true gentleman, and was a natural actor, never did vulgar films or faltu hulladbaazi. He was the quintessential common man and no one played common Indian as naturally as him. His Golmaal is still the best comedy. He speaks with so much thehraav till date. Very simple, polite, no frills, no ego. Good to hear about his discipline and professionalism.

I have watched only a few of his films, including Golmaal (ofc) and Chhoti Si Baat. But I admire Mr. Palekar a lot. I remember my father told me a story about him meeting Amol Palekar in a flight to Mumbai. So the story goes: My father was an MR (medical rep) for a France-based company back in the day. He used to go to Mumbai at least once a month to attend official meetings. One time, he was seated in his seat in an Air India flight, ig, and when the flight was taking off, something sticky started dripping onto his shirt from the above luggage compartment. He could not move as the seat belt was on. After he was able to take off the seatbelt, he opened the compartment to find a matka (earthened pot) of Rasgulla (a popular bengali sweet dish that are usually dipped in sugar syrup). Hence, the matka got upside down during the take off and the syrup started dripping. My father asked around to know whose package was it but no one answered. So, he distributed all the rasgullas amongst the passengers. After the flight landed in Mumbai, Mr Palekar approached my father to let him know that it was his package that was somehow kept in the economy class luggage compartment while he was in the business class. However, he really liked the fact that my father did not create a fuss and peacefully distributed them amongst the passengers. Eventually, Mr. Palekar offered him a lead role in an advertisement for a detergent powder in Bengal. He even wrote to my father years after their interaction. Unfortunately, the letter is lost now.

Great sir.. Amol sir is a Gem… The greatest actor of all time our Dr. Rajkumar is best example for setting example for punctuality, respecting producers he use to call them ANNADATARU.. they are feeding gods… Always use to stand up and greet everyone despite their age… Many superstars like Rajanikanth, Amitabh, Kamal Hassan Shivaji sir, Akkineni sir are big fans of Dr. Rajkumar… A big salute

Olangal is the Malayalam film that Amol ji is talking about. Balu Mahendra was a genius . What use of lighting, pauses, silence, cinematography, Ilayaraja music etc …truly a magician. Olangal was a v good film and Amol ji is a v fine actor

You yourself are so nice, as your name is Amol and sir, your nature is also Amoli, you are so humble, and from your conversation now you are looking exactly like it was shown in the movies, so yourself.

Being on time shows the dedication and respect you have for your co-workers. It is a horrible habit that we have when we claim we are "fashionably late". It is good that the new generation understands the value of time and are professional.

I'm surprised that he didn't act in Tamil, though the legendary director about whom he is talking about, Balu Mahendra , was a Tamil director who made many epic movies in Tamil. In those days, Tamil directors used to take a lot of movies in Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada too .
