Yes, Johan Hegg is... special. Saw hin interviewed by a child. He is a huge teddybear yet admittedly very impressive. On stage, even intimidating. I don't know how much you know, AA formed in 1994. After all these years, he's a master of growling technique.

Exactly. I will say that this one was the hardest to decide between nostalgia and a great cover but the cover was soooo great. Had to go that way.

Late to the party but eh, better late than never! I have to go with Sabaton for this one too. And it's mostly based on my own preferences. Amon Amarth made a killer song with this one, for sure. I do like how heavy their music is, and I went with a friend of mine who love them to see them live in Stockholm, which was an awesome night. But generally my taste goes more towards the melodic side of metal. And for me, the sound Sabaton has in their music is right up my alley. With this song they manage to bring out all those parts I love about it and make them shine even more while still keeping the heaviness of it. And any song with Jocke's vocals in it is a winner for me. :) I've seen Sabaton live as well and it was just beyond epic. If you get the chance to go see them when the world is less crazy, take it! Great video! I'm still catching up on your older content!

Usually covers are not as good as the original. But in this case Sabaton's cover is better than the original by Amon Amarth. And I love Amon Amarth.

I don't think I had heard Sabatons version of this, it was great but I have to go with Amon Amarth on this one. When I saw Amon Amarth the fire alarm went off two times due to excessive pyrotechnics, once during the crescendo of this song. Since you like swedish metal (and these 2 bands in particular) why not try Frantic Amber. A little known band from Stockholm, melodic death metal, 4 women and one dude on drums. Their first album had pretty much all bangers (Ghost, Bleeding Sanity and Soar being my favorites. But their latest album Bellatrix have kind of a "Sabaton theme" in that all songs are about notable female soldiers in history (and some that probably are more myth). Only one lyrical video (with the lead singer) on the last album so far but it's a good one, Joshitai. Read up on Nakano Takeko if you want the history lesson about who the song is about.

Yeah it would be fun to see your take on all 4. There is more covers. But its not many of them that are good. Almost like korpiklaanis take on ievan polka. I have seen 10 different takes on it, even an "original" version and so far i have seen 1 good.... and thats korpiklaanis version 😂

Hey, What about battle of the covers? I personally don't like heavy metal screaming like amon amarth does, so I like Sabaton's more. However, me not liking that type of singing doesnt mean it doesnt slap. I just personally don't like it. My dad loves that, so he loves bands like Amon Amarth and Arch Enemy. :)
