Amongst the bells at Chevening

Chevening ~ 8 bells ~ 10-1-13 ~ G
Bells 3, 5, 6, 7 are 1999 Whitechapel.
Bell 4 is 1715 Richard Phelps with a 1913 Gillett and Johnstone tenor.
Two trebles added in 2007 during the augmentation to 8.
The bells are a clockwise ring of 8 in a metal frame and are very well maintained. They are hung a short way up from the ringing room above a small cavity, sort of acting as an intermediate rope guide. The ropes all fall in a straight line off the wheel and a joy to ring.

Lovely bells and cracking ringing. My dad was a bell hanger for Whitechapel till 1972 when we came to Sydney? Always think of dad when Isee Whitechapel headstocks
