It’s been a little while since we brought you a cult story so here we go!!!! Ash was chatting with her friend about The Source family and after diving deeper into it she just had to bring it to all you weirdos! The Source family was established in 1969 by a man named Jim Baker. He had this idea for a hip new restaurant that would bring new age ideas and organic, whole foods all together. It was a great idea in theory, but over time the whole thing would turn on its head. A cult was born and all kinds of wild things were going on, but what would be the most wild was the unexpected end of the cults ~Earthly Spiritual Father~ Jim Baker.

Hi there… I knew Jim Baker/Father Yod/Yahowha and I was in the Source Family. Yes, he was from Cincinnati but Paul Bragg was not even from Ohio so they did not “grow up in the same neighborhood”. Also we didn’t change our names or choose them. He named us. Also, very few of us got into the pool in the morning. Mostly it was some of the men (not all of them) and a couple of women (I was always one of them). We’d throw ourselves in a cold, unheated swimming pool, then rinse off with a cold outdoor shower. Then we’d go inside to the meditation. The hang gliding was because Mercury and Jupiter (two of the “sons”) were into doing that. It was on Oahu. Mercury and I were a couple (I was assigned to Mercury for awhile by Yahowha, then assigned back to Orbit…orbit and I had come in to the family together) and Mercury set the world record for being in the air in a hang glider longer than anyone ever had up until that point…13 hours. (There are newspaper articles about this.) Yahowha said I should stay there “with my god man”at the top of Makapu cliffs on Oahu, during the entire 13 hours. (I was left there without water or food that entire time, I became very dehydrated and got a major sunburn). Yes, it was a cult, although we didn’t think it was at the time. Some who were there still don’t think it was a cult. But it clearly was. I am glad I had that experience, that I knew him as well as I did (on many “levels” if you get my drift), that I learned so much…and very glad that I have both feet on the ground and can see things clearly. Good episode! Dr. Elena Michaels known in the Source Family as Electra Aquarian 🌟

OMG, in the early '70s I actually had a doctor who would give me a prescription for Black Beauties for losing weight. At the time, I weighed 140 pounds at 5'8. Hearing how dangerous and addictive they were makes me feel very fortunate that I am apparently not prone to amphetamine addiction!

I know this episode is from a year ago but the discussion about people tearing others down makes me think of how haters are treating Taylor Swift and wishing her ill will and commenting hate on any post about her. I don’t understand hating someone who brings so much joy to people that you feel the need to waste your time talking shit online.
