Privilege of Evil, Karelian Isthmus and Tales from the thousand lakes are all any Amorphis fan needs

I think "A tale" is a very good album, but not equal the first two master pieces, A tale has too many electronic music influences for my old school ears, but I've learned to love it too, and this approaching made me love all of their works, but, "The privilege" and "The Karelian" will be my best

This is so true. I enjoy some of their songs on elegy aswell, but after that, I completely lost interest. Maybe when I grow 20 yrs older, lol.

That's the 3 I own, just never could get into anything afterwards, Elegy just moved too far away from what I liked in them.
@tilttilt9316 Жыл бұрын
@@NightgauntGer I actually felt the same way back when i got the Elegy album. But there's quite a few gems to be found on it, and they're not that far off from their previous albums. But I agree that the era/phase ended with that album (unfortunately). I suggest listening to "On rich and poor" again for example, that one is a masterpiece imo. The reason i missed this gem for years, was that I got bored after the initial fwe songs and just switched back to Tales, when I needed my Amorphis fix.

The Gathering 04:15 Hide lyrics As I sense their steel As I see the mighty one As we all gather once again The gods of war summon us... Summon us North wind blows to our valley Men with ships, with swords, with honour Their horses between flames Their dogs eating enemy childs Our heavenly father, what is this mortality Do you see my mortal agony Look, I see the shield up high This must be the sign from my lord This can be my death - sentence What a fine day to die Taste of blood comes up high Wind blows hard, our men fall... One by one This oath claims me I must bleed for my generation Strong is the enemy Strong is my sword The hammer is rising I feel their cold steel Now when I leave this world I shall open the mighty oaken gate And we all shall gather once again 3. Grail's Mysteries 03:04 Hide lyrics I shall have a son Out of Cornwall shall he come That shall be a wild boar Bristled with steel... He shall be a man most brave and Noble in thought Thou shall kneel for him For every man shall humble In front of our lord I stood upon the sand of the sea And the great wind told me to carry on He shall once know the secret Of the Holy Grail And so was the coronation made And there was he, Sworn unto his lords and the commons To be true king 4. Warriors Trial 05:07 Hide lyrics As the sun falls down And the swell crashes into the shore The great warriors of doom and wind ride high Silent is the silence, The only breathing of horses sound, Cold northern steel, Shining blade, pleases us And we all live under the black mark Oh lord, lead us to the paradise My lord, is this the promised land is this your gift Let us fly into your dreams Let us taste some blood Sorrow - the unknown force Hate - respect your enemy Bitterness - shall be forever Silence - nothing left Let us fly into your dreams Let us taste some blood 5. Crushing the chains of faith To find the way of immortality, We're hiding behind the cross To find shelter, We're searching for the name of god In this maze of hatred The name of god is lost Under the flag of salvation We cleared this land of pagans Under the cover of Christianity, We stained our hands in blood At these times of anguish The name of God is lost "I saw the coming of the end, Sun stopped its shining, Air is no longer fresh, Then it was too late to realize, That we can't breathe our hate." Amorphis is a Finnish Progressive Heavy Metal Band and are sometimes called Folk Metal because they frequently use the Kalevala, the Epic Poem of Finland, 🇫🇮as a source for their lyrics. Amorphis was founded by Jan Rechberger (Drummer), Tomi Koivusaari (Rhythm Guitar and Vocals/Death Growl),and Esa Holopainen (Lead Guitar) in 1990. The other members are Santeri Kallio (Keyboards) and Tomi Joutsen (Vocals, Live Occassional Acoustic Guitar). Amorphis really rocks hard!!

@Tempestuous_Might Жыл бұрын
"Smoothly natural metal built from the old style of heavy chords sparsely strung together, eschewing speed strumming of most death metal, with a patterning toward eloquent greatness arising from simplicity, powers this release. At its core, this is death metal that became enmeshed in Bathory-style epic contemplation, and it maintains solidity through inventive mid-paced death metal riffing and conceptual uniting in songwriting structure. With a real taste for a coherent but beautiful aesthetic, the music of Amorphis moves fluidly, with disjointed song structures rectified by such distinctive riffs and bridges as to make this unconfusable with any other band. Many riffs are pop-style carved from tritone patterns for a comforting and familiar but easy vector to carry rhythm. Often melodic playing interlaces slow thunderous riffs to build intensity for some fundamentally clearthinking riffs which divide, pound or shape raw momentum to create mood. Lyrics are mainly fantastic, focusing on the history of Finland and its people. Vocals are low but open-throated, resulting in an ongoing harsh scream that melds with surging string instruments. Percussion is accurate and like all instrumentalism, of an intentionally minimalist framework to ensure complete execution. Deliberate songwriting with simple implements and intents clarifies into immersive and sensual sound."
