@midouban6282 жыл бұрын
Also just because kids can say "yes" and "no" doesn't mean "consent". Consent in this context only occurs when a person voluntarily agrees to the proposal or desires of another WHILE fully understanding the risks and benefits. This is why attorneys and medical staff before getting your consent signature are required by law to ask do you fully understand everything that was being said/explained; and do you have any questions/concerns.

As a Singaporean, I remember everyone around me laughing when Amos was granted asylum. Most of us were glad that he wasn’t our problem anymore, and that the US would eventually see what we saw in him - not a free-speech activist, but an attention seeking narcissist. I may not agree with the punishments dished out to him, and I personally feel that SG is rather dated on their stance on free speech, but Amos was definitely not deserving of the support or praise he was given. Absolute waste of an opportunity many would’ve killed for.

Lessons learned: 1) Never succeed before you developed a decent brain for life. 2) The internet skeptics community really are the worst and can ruin your life if you take them for real. Thank God that my entry to the internet skeptics community was via Thunderf00t, who bailed out early and explained what it was all about before it crashed and burned. Sometimes it really takes a nuclear physicist to explain things to you one by one, huh.

The funny thing was that the West wanted to use him to prove a point. They were so judgmental against people who were offended by him, they wanted to showcase him as a freedom fighter...... and then, that plan backfired. They did not know Amos would test the boundaries of their own freedom, that's what Amos always do, if he realize which buttons should not be pressed, he'll smash them. Look at how they tried to save some pride: " While we respect his right to free speech..." even when they were already trying to remove his voice.

i think many singaporeans like myself included always thought that singapore was this "oppresive city" ruled by just one party which is a "dictatorial country" when we were younger. When u start to mature, and start to understand how the world functions, u start to appreciate wat u hv in this small country,
@RaiunHana Жыл бұрын
As a fellow Singaporean myself, I grew up feeling pretty free actually. It was only around the time when I started learning about our history that I realized that there are laws regarding hate speech towards race and religion (and it is through learning our history that I know why these laws are important for us). Human psychology is weird. For some reason, people seem to place a disproportionately huge amount of importance on race and religion and when people get heated up about these issues, the irrational hatred stirred up in these groups are like no other. Seeing this type of crazy hate, I do understand how things like racial riots and maybe even wars can be started, thus why such laws are needed in many countries. "Oppressive", "dictatorial" are terms that are unfairly used on us and we have been conditioned to accept these terms being used to describe us. Many countries perceived to be free such as Canada have the same laws regarding speech but don't get the same rep as us. Why? Because they're western countries and not asian ones? That said, we may not have true free speech but I've never felt as if I wasn't free enough to say whatever I want to say and also we are so much more free in ways that other countries are not (like the freedom of going out alone whenever we want without fear - for example, think of a petite woman at 2am taking a solo walk in a quiet park / around quiet parts of towns - that can't be done in many countries but I've done this type of stuff for years).

@@noahgray543 why do you want to get rid of an amendment that has actually kept the US from being properly invaded by a fascist military? You do know the reason why the Japanese had no plans to invade the US during WW2 while we had a functioning navy was because behind every blade of grass in America there was possibly a gun. There were plenty of other factors sure but that was a big one. Also want to point out the people who want to get rid of it also want to get rid of publicly funded police. So what happens to us poor folk after you have taken 100% of our defense away? I don't mean to rant about the 2nd amendment when this video is about a shitty pdf-files but you opened the door.
