I just received a sample of this one. It's nice and I do pick up on some of the additional woods and resins, but I really don't think the performance is worth the price. I generally like that extraits project less, but this is a skin scent by hour 3 for me. Interlude man, Honour woman and Epic woman extraits were still projecting after 8 hours. I would sample this version of Reflection and make sure the performance meets your personal expectations.

I have both. I prefer Reflection Man over Reflection 45. The original is more woody, and I like this accord better. I did a test where I sprayed the original on a test strip, 45 on a second strip, and both on the third. I had my wife rank them. She ranked the layering combo as the best, the original as her second favourite, and 45 as the least favourite. So now, I am rocking them both. 3 to 1 ratio since 45 is more concentrated. Hope this helps some people

Great video and explanation, I've tried the original and really enjoyed it, I was thinking that the more concentrated formulation would be more of a boosted version of the original... I know it's not as simple as that! I think I may just go with the original!

More concentration = more longevity, less projection. That's a general rule of thumb.

When Amouage changed the caps to magnetic, they diluted all their current fragrances, some not much, but some by a lot. I still have vintage non-magnetic cap 09' Reflection Man , and compared to the current formulation it's WAY stronger, and fuller. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling the new Reflection 45 is the vintage Reflection, tweaked a bit , with fancier bottle , and much higher price tag

My guess is your older bottle maceration kicked in and your confusing that for why the newer seems weeker. Any scent I've kept over a year naturally gets stronger.

Two sprays from my decant, and Reflection 45 took over my wool Pendleton sweater for a week and a half. Enough to be noticeable by my girlfriend every time I put it on. Wonderful experience. Certainly denser, richer, and more balsamic and ambery compared to the more floral original.

I love Reflection Man, probably my favorite from the house. Waiting on my sample for this one. I think the pricing is ridiculous. I also have Dapper’s clone of Reflection and it’s pretty good, way better performance than the original.

I was very happy to see your full review on Reflection 45 Man. Based on Fragrantica reviews, I assumed that 45 would run closer to the original, but it would seem that it is quite distinct to your nose. I am still interested in trying 45, but I am not sure if the amber/resin notes will make 45 just as suitable to warm weather as the original. The price is ridiculous, but I figure the bottle should last longer given the concentration....

Extraits aren't meant to project. So no matter what brand you buy and extrait will not project as much as the EDP counterpart. This is due to the alcohol content in the bottle. More alcohol = more projection.

Tried at the Heathrow airport a week ago Very ambery to me. But it had Amouage DNA for sure. 45% that I am not sure 🤔. It was not strong enough for 45%. I got the lyric man recently 2020 version completely watered down. Very disappointing Amouage nowadays. I do not think I will purchase any more Amouage Fragrances, watered down and over priced. Reformulations: overall, there was one big reformulation in 2013 of several Amouage fragrances driven by IFRA and the European Cosmetics regulations (just before the change to magnetic caps which is why both are often associated). Since then, a few minor adjustments on some fragrances but nothing as significant as 2013. Reflection Man was reformulated in 2013.

I have asked to smell side by side the old and new formulas freshly mixed (to allow for fair comparison) and there is indeed a minor difference in the character (the new formula feels slightly less floral and powdery/dusty than the older one). The 2013 formula feels slightly woodier. No reformulation since 2013 - however, there is a new regulation applicable in May 2022 (IFRA 49) that will require a new formula of Reflection man (and will, in general, impact a lot of fragrances on the market).

We are not fully done yet but it is getting there (keeping in mind that we are talking about minor changes that are sometimes difficult to spot through triangulation by trained fragrance evaluators). And it clearly means investing more on the concentrate as we need to replace relatively affordable but performing synthetics with a mix of naturals and synthetics that will bring the original character without sacrificing the performance. Which brings me to point 2
