Amphora Boat Southworth 12 Boiler Feed Pump First Steam Test 2017

Today I tested the first time the steam pump on board of the steam boat AMPHORA. Both engines the Stuart 5A and the Southworth 12 are running parallel and the pump still succesfully pumped at relative low steam pressure of 15 to 25 psi the water against the boiler pressure. At normal routine pressure around (50-75) psi both maschines will work efficiently with high speed and parallel.

isn't showing the pressure gauge part of it? which sometimes seems so very low. the boiler should be allowed to rise to operating pressure and then heat the motors and the rest so there is enough steam when the water is hotter

Bonjour Christoph, I definetly like your launch very much. This pump, what a beauty ! for running your 5A, which is your regular running pressure ? The pump is already struggling against 25 psi, possibly too slow if you go higher, never mind, you also have a coupled water pump to supply water to the boiler, this additional accessory will be useful when you navigate slowly I guess. Good evening Raphael... thank you for your nice and open comment... the normal running pressure for the boat is at 75psi, so much much higher and than also enough steam is available for both maschines :-) I am very glad that even at this low pressure and small coal bed the pump did its job and now I am sitting with a glass of red wine in front of my chimney to celebrate the premiere... have a nice evening as well!

Normally I prefere Bordeaux or Barolo... today a nice one from Toscana... tea later :-)

Thank you... I use polish coal (rich of gas and sulfur ;-) ) but I mix it after the start of burning with about 30% antracit coal (pure carbon)...
