Your two videos on Amplenote are the best ones on You Tube. You mentioned doing a third one.

I think the biggest success of the "competitors" is their discord communities who’ve worked hard alongside the creators to improve the apps at high speed (essentially the users are creating plugins and promoting their plugins with the creators checking if they approve or not) so the community doesn’t have to wait for months to get a solution to their challenges, as long as they are willing to put in the hard work. The obsidian one is especially welcoming and supportive. If you have any challenge, a member, a mod, a creator has an ear and the time to help/teach and even build. With friendly, patient, near instant and enthusiastic responses like that, it’s easy to keep excited and naturally you spread the word. As soon as amplenote gets a discord and lets it’s users build plugins, you’re going to see it take off I promise.

Hey Michael--smart take! It has not been lost on us how effective the real time communities have been at engaging the users of their respective apps. We are actively exploring what our next steps will be to flesh out our community, and Discord seems to be the leader thus far on what users request. At some point we'll hopefully find time to author a post on why we've been slow to adopt this seemingly common-sense avenue to growth. In a nutshell, we cut our teeth building an entrepreneur tool (Bonanza.com) that in 2010 was in much the same position Roam had been in circa 2019--unrequited love/hype from all corners of the internet. This was an amazing boost to propel us to build a user base large enough that its revenue continues to sustain our operations to this day. But what we observed as the community grew exponentially was that it's hard to execute a consistent vision when you have thousands of opinions flooding in from all quarters. And minimally vetted plugins that some users will write to support with the expectation that we can debug and improve the integrations others were creating. We do not suffer from a lack of exciting prospects to work on, our problem is quite the opposite. So we've been tentative in how we expand our community, because our resources are so limited that we need to keep 99% of our focus on 1) killing bugs before building features 2) shipping an essential product instead of justifying our decision-making process in how the product evolves. Hopefully that helps shine a little light on why we've been less aggressive in pursuing growth than most of our competitors.

@@Amplenote Oh you don't need to justify yourself there's nothing to defend, you're doing a stellar job. You're attracting talented fans of the product like Shu who really care about the product and feel like they want to help to polish amplenote. I think you've inspired that kind of respect and that, to me is a mark of your character as founders. I admit I may be wowed by how things expand when a community is allowed to play under the hood. It's magical watching the creators/mods mentor them. Thinking of that happening for Amplenote... It's exciting! and so, I guess I may be slightly impatient. Again, a mark that you've made a good product when the fans "can't wait". However I understand, quality vetting in all things, product and community, is paramount so that everyone can enjoy a well crafted and satisfying experience. And that very much seems to be part of how you do things. So I couldn't be happier right now :)

I really like the way this app works. my brain works similar to it. My concern is will it be around in a few years. I need more about privacy too. I have almost 10K notes in Evernote but @Amplenote seem to do more of things i need because of how i process information. It's been around for a few years and I can't understand why it hasn't caught fire like Obsidian, Roam & Notion, none that i use, they just seem to complicated at times. WIll Amplenote be here in 10yrs, how will the security get better? what's the plan for the growth of the company and the app? 🤨

I agree with @daviddutymentor, your tutorial is simply the best I have seen. Clear, concise and made sense of things incredibly well. I have only just discovered amplenote but am loving it already and I havent even created a note yet. Great video and immensely helpful. I now plan to migrate away from Notion in the coming days. Thank you.

This is really exciting! For some reason when I saw Shu Omi share about Amplenote, I saw that there was only a paid option. Am I wrong or has there always been one? I'm really seeing the benefits of it and it would be worth paying too! The only thing I wish is that it had more integration with apple. Since I'm really debating switching everything to Amplenote instead of my iCal, Apple Notes, and Apple Reminders, it's a big switch. But as I work through these videos and watch some of Shu's again (I had originally wrote off Amplenote because it was paid so I thought) I'm sure there are others who have well integrated it into their Mac OS productivity systems and PKMs. Thanks for the very clear and concise video and keep it up!

Yeah good point, paywall SaaS is rarely a good idea for increasing your user base in my opinion. Almost every web app that I know and use (because of their popularity) has a free tier that gets people's feet wet. The same applies for games from unknown companies. A free 15-30 day trial might solve the paywall issue but I'm just guessing here.
@matheusfelipe11362 жыл бұрын
Hello, Aaron! You probably already had your answer, but yes, AmpleNote has a free option, and from what I've seen, it's been launched around 2021. There are paid versions for more robust uses, like being able to publish notes as web pages, end-to-end encrypt notes, sidebar note viewer, collaboration and more. The free version has all of the base functionality if you only want to use it for personal use. I come from Todoist, so getting used to the UI has been quite a challenge, but I think it's just a matter of time, and i'm sure it will be the same for you
@invictuz48032 жыл бұрын
@@matheusfelipe1136 Indeed, it'll take time to figure out how to manage your tasks in task mode with tags and note filters but at least it solves the problem of not being able to record notes and tasks with Todoist.
@matheusfelipe11362 жыл бұрын
@@invictuz4803 Yeah, it takes a while to get used to it. You can use what they call inline tags, which are literally a link to another note in the task title.

@@matheusfelipe1136 Hey I did, but I appreciate you posting anyways. I'm kind of torn between Obsidian and Amplenote atm. I like how both can build websites out of your vault or main folder, but I'm not up for paying $20/month yet. I saw there's a way to do it for free with Quartz, but it looks a little complicated.
