*Tropical* *Evergreen* *Forests* : •They are found in areas which receives more than 200 cm rainfall in their short dry season. •Trees in these area reach upto 60 m high. •All types of vegetation are found in these forest. •There is no definite time for trees to shed their leaves in these forest. •They are found in western ghats,tamil nadu,Andaman and nicobar,lakshwadeep,Assam. Tress found in these area are ebony,cinchona,rubber *Tropical* *Deciduous* *Forest* : •These are most widespread forests in India.They are also called monsoon forests. •They are found in areas which receives rainfall between 200 and 70 cm. •Hardwood tress found in these area are sal,teak,neem.

I have a doubt in this question please clear it for me "the vegetation is up to higher altitude on the southern slopes of Himalayas than on the northern slopes". Give reason.

The southern slopes of the Himalayan region are covered in thick vegetation as compared to the northern slopes of the same hills as it receives less rainfall. The growth of vegetation depends upon the amount of sunlight and rainfall received. The southern slopes of the Himalaya receive more rain due to the south west monsoon winds which travel west along the southern slops. The northern slopes do not receive any such rainfall. So the southern slopes are covered with thick vegetation as compared to the northern slopes.
