Same! I’ve been on the hunt for a lightweight inexpensive setup for when I’m traveling for gigs and decided to explore MainStage. The only thing was that MainStage began getting confusing…then discovered Amplitube. Bout the line 6 FVB MKii Express because I needed something that would still let me control the software and guitar tones……and so far I’d say this is worth it! Now getting the hang of Amplitube and understanding how things connect in the software but this video was EXTREMELY helpful!!

But every tutorial i watch about AmpliTube (and other programs like that) are built up so complicated, talking about the need for other programs (DAWs i think they're called) and what-not. @UncleTodMusic Yeah man, great video(s)!! I've just been using DAWs and VSTs for quite some time now - however, I cannot get Amplitube as a Stand Alone, to read my Alesis MultiMix 8 mixboard the way FL Studio 20 will. It is connected via USB. My guitar goes through my Zoom Gx1 pedal, to the mixer and out via USB to the computer and 1/4" mono to a 10" amplifier. I've been trying for years to get my guitars sounding the way I want - I've come close but Amplitube is what I've been looking for all these years. I just wanted to be able to do guitar recording in Amplitube Stand Alone because I record everything - if an instrument is in my hand, something is recording it. And to play around with it's Looper in conjunction with my pedals Looper. 😉🖖🏻💪🏻⚡💫💎
@UncleTodMusic18 күн бұрын
I don't know anything about that Alesis box but a brief search makes it look like it should just show up as another USB interface. One thing I know trips some people up on the Mac is privacy&security. USB interfaces are the same as microphones to it. So if you're on macOS under Settings→Privacy & Security→Microphone make sure that the slider for AmpliTube is blue, meaning it's allowed to access your microphone.

Hey! Great video! But may I ask if you could review how the computer and amp/speakers are physically connected to the Axe I/O? Are you hearing the guitar through the computer speakers? Can a guitar amp be connected? Thanks so much!
@UncleTodMusic Жыл бұрын
Sure. My preferred approach is to use the Line Out ports on the back of the Axe I/O direct to a pair of Mackie CR5-X BT speakers which sit on the desk with my laptop. On my laptop I then select the AXE I/O as the output device so that both my guitar and all system audio goes back to the Axe I/O and then to the speakers. This makes it really easy to balance the volume when playing with a jam-along track from the computer. (For normal computer sound I can use this setup or switch to the Mackies via their bluetooth connection. The BT option is not usable for practicing as there is too much lag). When I need to be quiet I switch to a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones through the front headphone jack on the Axe I/O. I have also used that front headphone jack with a 1/4" stereo jack to two RCA outputs to connect that way to a pair of powered speakers. Finally, I have run the line out to both my small Carvin S400 Stagemate PA (the 12" speakers sound great) and when I jam with friends I have run it through the band's PA. I have not run it through an amp, but that is the purpose of the Amp Out connection on the front of the Axe I/O. I assume that sends a DI signal that's only been processed by your AXE I/O (not AT5) to your amp.

Awesome definitely a fan !! Well explained. Question: when you buy something like Messa boogie for amplitude. You buy it in the custom shop, after the purchase does it automatically go to amplitude or do you have to down load it after purchase..

My understanding is that all the amps are already downloaded into AmpliTube. You should see them with a lock icon as long as you have enabled viewing of all the gear (see the second video in this series kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2bKioSAlJp2pZo around the 2 minute mark). Once you purchase you might need to make sure IK Product Manager is open, but it should authorize that gear in AT5 and any limitations on the "locked" version should be removed.

I’m trying to get Amplitube to function as a plug-in inside GarageBand, and I can’t get it to work. Any chance you could demo that process? Thanks for the tutorial!
@UncleTodMusic Жыл бұрын
I was planning on doing that just haven't gotten around to it yet. In the meantime, the plugins should be in the following folder (assume your hard drive is called HD) `HD->Library→Audio→Plug-Ins`, then you should see a `Components` folder and VST3` folder. In the components folder you should see AmpliTube5.component and in the VST3 folder you should see AmpliTube 5.vst3 (there is also a VST folder that has AmpliTube 5.vst). If you have all those files I would say everything installed correctly. Then (and here is where a video would really help) you use the plug-ins area. You could use any slot but it makes sense to replace the "Amp Designer" with AT5. If you hover over it the icon should show a power button, sliders and up/down arrows. Click on the arrows, drag down to `Audio Units` select `IK Multimedia` then `AmpliTube 5`. Then click on the center (slider icon part) of the AmpliTube 5 plug-in and the familiar AT5 interface will open in a floating window.

I dont know why, but when im trying to play some musics, and turn on my amplitube, its work fine, but when i change my preset and some effect, something happening and a hiss begin in my ears. And its happening with the same range of time. I dont know why but i need to understand that and solve. Can you help me? Btw, im from brazil and im big fan of you.
@UncleTodMusic5 күн бұрын
That's not a lot to go on, but if one preset sounds good and another has hiss, it's likely just the combination of effects and amps that cause the hiss. You can experiment by lowering the input gain on your USB interface to make sure you're not driving things too hard or use the quietest pickups on your guitar. Other than that, experiment with various amps/pedals and the various pickups on your guitar. You might also want to add a noise gate to the beginning of your chain on any noisy presets. I tend to have a noise gate at the start of all my presets. The noise gate doesn't eliminate hiss or noise but does mute it when the overall signal falls below the threshold you set. At least you don't have to hear it when you aren't playing. Hiss isn't a unique problem to amp models, I've played in lots of bands where the guitarists rig generated a lot of noise while everything was on and just sitting on stage. If this response isn't helpful, you might try the IK Multimedia forums to reach a wider audience for your questions. forum.ikmultimedia.com/viewforum.php?f=5

Thanks Tod appreciate your tutorial. I installed Amplitube 5CS and have a lot of distortion and don’t know how to modify. Do you have any ideas what might cause this?
@UncleTodMusicАй бұрын
I can only offer ways to troubleshoot. If you have single coil and humbucker pickups switch to quieter humbuckers to troubleshoot. Start with the Default preset (it has no effects enabled). Then use the Mixer and click S on the DI channel to solo it. That should be very clean. If it's not it's likely the input gain on your USB interface is too high. Turn it ALL the way down. If that sounds good then you can unsolo the DI channel and see if that was all that was needed. Also experiment with turning down the volume knob on your guitar to see if that helps you get a cleaner signal. For any preset check all the meters in the Mixer, if any are hitting yellow try dragging them down. If you end up with presets that don't have enough gain you can either use the Input slider in bottom left to increase the input gain or increase the gain on your USB interface (but not too much), or a combination of the two.

I am interfacing with a Focusrite Scarlet Solo. I could not get any signal to input to Amplitude. I spent hours trying to fix it. Finally, by accident I figured it out. #1, On the Audio/MIDI set up window, the buffer size has to match that of your interface. #2, You have to click the "tracks" button and select the input corresponding to the input on the interface. This may be obvious to some but it wasn't to me , a novice at using this kind of software. These were not mentioned in the manual. Hope this helps someone out there.
@UncleTodMusic5 ай бұрын
For sure I wouldn't say the matching buffer size is obvious. That won't be true for all interfaces. My axe IO has a buffer of 512 (according to some software I have) but in AT5 I can set any buffer size and it still works. I'm surprised the Scarlet has this restriction. I do think naming the recorder inputs 1 and 2 instead of Left and Right adds to the confusion. While I touched on this in my video on how to use two guitars you inspired me to create a new video today on fully explaining what is meant by Input 1 and 2 in the multi-track view of the recorder mode. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKSooXlrataefJY

Re: “no new pedals , no new amps nothing but it says I got MAX V2” Sorry for the late reply but YT Studio doesn't show me when I have new replies, just saw this when reading a different comment. Just to be clear you don’t get anything NEW - what happens is CS/AT5 authorizes the things you already had. If you remember from the video there is a way to filter the list to the things you own, the things you don’t own, or both. Make sure you toggle through those settings. But the thing I would have expected to change in AT5 is the lock icons on most of the gear would go away. If they didn’t try this: 1. Go into custom shop, use the drop-down in the top menu bar and click your username, then select “My Profile”. Go to the AMPLITUBE tab. You should see a long list of amps, cabinets, and effects. Most of them should have green check marks in the lower left corner. If they do at least CS sees all those as authorized. 2. Assuming you still see everything with lock icons in AT5, try going to IK Product Manager. Click the gear icon and in the dialog, enable the checkbox for “Automatically authorize software after installation. Otherwise you may need to click on each amp that is locked and see if you get an option for authorizing without have to buy anything. You can also try the forum to see if other users can help - cgi.ikmultimedia.com/ikforum/viewforum.php?f=5 IK would like you to try the faqs first - www.ikmultimedia.com/faq/ But then, I would recommend going to www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support/sw and seeing if they can help. Provide as much information as you can, computer (or mobile platform), operating system, version any serial numbers etc. Tell them what you saw when you did the above two steps. My experience is it takes 2+ weeks to get a response so if you provide as much information as possible it might help.

@UncleTodMusicАй бұрын
You do NOT need a DAW. AmpliTube comes with its own host application which is what most of my videos demonstrate. I would have to guess you are on Windows? I can't really help much there but in days gone by when I used Windows, some times if I tried installing in folder paths that had spaces in the name, or unusual characters in the name, or a folder that was too many levels deep it would cause problems. You can try either their forums or tech support but include which OS you're using, which version of the OS and any other details you think might be relevant. Possibly even the entire folder path you're trying if it doesn't contain any private info.

How can you eliminate the noise and hum? I added a noise gate and that eliminated 95% of it, but there's still a slight hum and buzz
@UncleTodMusicАй бұрын
You should be able to turn the threshold knob and eliminate it all when you aren't playing (and maybe muting the strings). If you can't do that you might have a bad cable somewhere or a wonky pickup. Gates though are just that, they don't eliminate or reduce noise they just mute the signal until you produce a volume above the threshold. The main sources of noise can be 1. Your USB interface (especially if you've cranked the input gain) 2. Your pickup choice (single coils are notoriously noisy) 3. The amount of gain in your pre-amp and amp choices in AT5. Start with humbucker pickups and something like the Roland Jazz Amp 120 with distortion at 0 and volume at 5 or below, your USB interface gain set to its lowest value. Then you can mess with input gain, swap pickups and amps to determine the source and decide what tradeoffs you want to make. If you want to record, there are tools that will remove hum and noise afterward but I'll assume for now that's not what you're after.
@Squirrel-i6uАй бұрын
@UncleTodMusic right. I'm pretty certain that it's not in my cable, cause it's almost a brand new, top quality cable. Pickups could possibly have a lot to do with it. I have a epiphone firebird and I think it has P90 pickups. But last night I done a little tweaking, turned up the threshold and it all but eliminated all the noise. Thank you very much for for your help. I think I can do some tweaking and eliminate all of the rattle and hum. As for my interface, I have the gain turned all the way down. My interface is a tascam 102i. Beautiful, amazing quality!

Your English is excellent but I do not think I can help much. I do not know what device or even operating system you are on. I can offer some general info: Make sure you are on the latest version of IK Product Manger (currently 1.1.0). Click the gear icon and verify the Downloads Folder is where you expect it to be, and that you have permissions for that folder and space on your hard drive. I doubt that helps. I think you will have to write to tech support. My advice is to make a screen recording of what you are trying to do because product support is probably going to ask for one any way. Even if you just click a button and nothing happens, show that nothing happens. I do not know if you can attach a video when you create the ticket, but if not, you'll get an automated acknowledgment via email, and you can reply to that and attach the video at that point.

Hard to know with limited information but sounds like the first download is in progress so the others are queued waiting for it to finish. If it’s been a while it’s probably hung and you need to troubleshoot possible reasons. In the platform you’re using do you have enough storage/memory for the download. Could there be a permission problem. Check the download location in IK Product Manager, anything in that path oddly named? Can you change to something closer to the root of your device? Just guessing here. You can always try IKM tech support or their forums. If you try the forums supply as much info as possible about your platform.

Hello I am having issues with Amplitube 5 and not being able to save the presets as a TXP file. It looks like it saves it as a AT5 file only. I am using Windows 10 .

Sorry you're having problems. I would suggest both starting a tech support ticket with IK MultiMedia and/or taking a look at their forums forum.ikmultimedia.com - I would suggest in both cases that you provide as much information as you can. The computer type (Mac PC, other), the OS version, the AmpliTube version. If it's a custom Windows machine maybe things like the video card, or GPU in use.

I need and vocal and guitar only

OK - not sure AT5 offers much (other than a clean recording track) for vocals.

Program is terrible. Can’t get any of the amps to unlock after purchase and authorization.

Sorry to hear that. You likely need to contact tech support and get their help. www.ikmultimedia.com/contact-support/ When I've needed them in the past I've started there, clicked through the options, searched the FAQs and then at the end of the search results is a button that lets you start a ticket. Also in AT5, on the settings dialog is an Account tab. That tab has a RESTORE PURCHASES button. I've never used it, but since things aren't working it's worth a try. If you get this resolved I always appreciate hearing about what ended up working.

I only hear horrible screeching sound like microphone effect and is nasty. Cant hear anything unfortunately. Now I ended installing all I can and then I will see.

I think it's this video where I mention that I really wish they hadn't decided to default the input to a microphone and the output to my speakers. It just sets up a screeching feedback loop. Sounds like what you are hearing. You need to set up your inputs and output as shown near the 10:00 minute mark. Turn down or off your speakers first and you might be able to avoid the screech. Good luck.
