it is pre-recorded to keep the timing during shooting(however they still might sing during shooting). Then once shooting is finished they will go into a recording studio and watch the footage of themselves while doing the dialogue and/or singing

not my favorite musical... but I've heard so many GREAT things... I'll go see it when it comes to our dollar show (which is now four Dollars... inflation... go figure)... I hope they keep doing that... live recording is so much better... I heard Hugh Jackman is just unbelievable... I can WAIT to see that... ALL my friend said his high notes were just amazing... I love the young soprano in Les Mis who gets the high Cs... I heard she was great too (the young lady from Mama Mia)
