Poonam was educated, she was asked to complete her further studies in Delhi by her in-laws, it was also decided that she will join the family business after her marriage, poonam married on her own will, after meeting and talking to the guy, poonam decided everything for herself in the movie, not because she was asked to - and yet the reviewers called her character regressive....you know why? because they think that following our culture is regressive! Never listen to english and modern media who review such golden movies.

Vivah was a good film. :) I can understand some people calling it regressive, but it wasn't so. It highlighted our tradition and culture with which a lot of the modern urban elite are simply out of touch. It wasn't a perfect story by any means, but had a strong cast and good intentions behind it.
