Thank you for covering this game! Very insightful review. I already pre-ordered this from an online retailer here in the US. It was just $40 so it might still be worth it for me. I was drawn to this because of the historical Indian theme, the artwork and components, and the fact that I don't yet have a mancala mechanism game in my collection. It's too bad that it isn't a little tighter but hopefully the solo mode will be challenging enough to keep me engaged and wanting replays of it. It reminds me somewhat of Sabika, my #1 game of 2022 (and one of the best solo games in my collection) and also by Ludonova. And the designer of Sabika, German P. Millan, assisted with the solo design of Amritsar. So, hopefully I'll enjoy it and want to keep it in my collection. I also pre-ordered The White Castle as part of the same order as Amritsar so maybe this will be a welcome change of pace (and tightness) after a playthrough of The White Castle leaves me feeling like I wish I had more turns to accomplish more.

The thing on the back of an elephants back is called a ‘Howdah’ , a Hindi word I believe

That's not a rulebook, that's a poster! The board looks simplistic and yet busy. It also sounds like a balancing act to play, maybe so much that it seems like work instead of a fun game. I do get some hints of Sabika design (which I love), especially the symbols and it makes sense since it's by the same Graphic Designer. Thanks for the video team!

Thanks for the video! Sounds like an issue I had with Endless Winter, which felt like I did too much even on my first play with the variant of less workers. I think that style of game appeals to a lot of people (Earth is a bit like this as well) but I prefer more struggle from the game itself, not just eeking out extra points to win in a points buffet.

oh nice! I have this pre-ordered for pick up at Essen. I won't like, those elephants were a big motivator in me buying this before seeing any reviews/playthroughs. Such chunky adorable elephants! The theme appealed to me as well. :) Disappointing to hear the final thoughts on it. It seemed like it had so much potential.
