I take a look at the new v1.5.6.1 update for Automobilista 2 by Reiza Studios in my new sim racing video.
I jump into the 2024 Brazilian Stock Cars and race the AI around the Cascavel circuit.
I talk about the improved visuals for this track and the updated physics and tire model for the 2024 stock cars which give us a sneak peek of whats coming for the other cars in the v1.6 build coming later this year.

Absolutely loving the 2024 Brazilian stock cars as well! I think they are some of, if not the best, driving cars in AMS2 at the moment. Another stellar review-thank you so much for all your hard work!!

Thanks mate and you are right these new 2024 stock cars are some much better to drive with the updated physics compared with their 2023 counterparts and I did a lot of races with them as I tested them out for the video. The combination of these 2024 cars at Cascavel was a real winner for me and raced for hours at different AI strengths and all with a big smile.

Thanks mate i appreciate that, and when i ran in VR AMS2 was amazing and the level of immersion was incredible and it's one of the reasons i keep looking at getting another headset !

You should use VR to get full immersion. You will sit IN the car instead of looking to a flat screen with no depth perception. :-) Love VR for simracing.

Yes mate i know and i will go back to racing in VR when i next do a PC rebuild when the 5000 gen GFX cards drop later this year as i have my eye on the Quest 3 after enjoying myself with the Rift S previously and want a system that allows me to really experience VR without worry about having to find that sweet spot between looks and performance i began struggling with with my 3080ti i currently use.

@@SIMRACINGJASON I just bought a new system. I expect that the 5000 serie is a bit above my budget so bought a 4080super and a Quest 3. Enough for me. Coming from a 1080ti, this upgrade is huge of course. 😁

Nice review, it's good the game can still be played with older computers. The Brazilian Stock Cars are so fun and I agree that AMS2 is a really good for off-line bumper to bumper immersion. I'm getting back into sim racing after a 10 year hiatus and the next generation games and equipment are awesome. I finally gave up on my Logitech Driving Force GT and stepped up to a Logitech DD a couple of months ago. Can't wait to try out the new stock cars and physics.

Thanks mate and i enjoy the fact AMS2 is a solid offline sim and now they are getting on top of the physics within the Madness engine its really starting to hit its stride, took a while but the team at Rezia never seem to give up trying to get it right.

I know mate as when i went back to test the 2023 stocks cars i couldn't lap with the same level of confidence with what the tyre feedback was giving me and i originally loved those stock cars !

I've been really enjoying AMS2. I didn't play it much pre-update but I regularly play iRacing, ACC, and rFactor. When I loaded the vintage formulas in AMS2 yesterday, I felt like the car was an extension of my body and I swear I was able to make clean laps around the track just with the brake and accelerator pedals. I've heard people complain about the braking in AMS2 but I'm not really noticing a problem. Maybe its because I'm actually able to drive these cars but that makes me worry that the physics are wrong but I've heard real race car drivers complain about iRacings tire model with its sharp falloff whereas in AMS2 the cars appear to have more grip. Still possible to spin if your slip angle is too much so I wonder which one is more correct in this regard. In this sim I'm able to focus on my racing lines and enjoying the racing whereas other sims I'm trying to keep the car on the road and trying not to overdrive too much.

Great comment mate and as for which is better AMS2 or iRacing, I don’t think I am skilled enough in sim racing to know the answer to that tricky question as I think driving styles and hardware have a lot in shaping any answers. It is nice to hear how you are now enjoying AMS2 and that at the end of the day is what’s important mate.

"I felt like the car was an extension of my body" This is spot on, for my experience is the very same. I currently play two racing sims, namely ACC and AMS2. I enjoy both of them, but for different reasons. Nailing a lap in ACC feels like a big accomplishment, but the driving itself tends to feel like a chore. Everything seems to work against you. The track. The clock. But mostly the car. No matter which car I pick, I always feel like I'm in a constant fight with the vehicle (though some cars feel even more dangerous than others). In AMS2 the driving itself doesn't feel like a chore, but a joy. And the cars feel like tools that work as they I want them to work, as long as I stay within the given boundaries. Two great games. But while ACC takes the crown for tough as nails competition, AMS2 is unmatched when you just want to drive.

Just tried this after long break. Compared 2023 vs 2024 stock cars. Wow what a difference.. So much tighter, no more rocking back and forth during load. All that negative things people complained about is heavily reduced. Are these two cars the fully updated 1.6 model or is there more tweaks coming?

It is amazing how much of an improvement there is from the 23 to 24 stock cars and I am still really enjoying racing them. They have the bulk of 1.6 tire updates in operation but they say the full 1.6 release will see a few refinements to the tire model.

@@michalturlik7309 not yet mate, but the 2024 Brazilian stock cars in the last update are using a version of 1.6 physics. I was hoping that the new update would of been live by now but I am glad they are not rushing as it’s a big update and I would rather they get it right.

The updated cars are definitely a move in a new direction but I am not sure if it is enough yet. I really like AMS2 but the driving feel gets frustrating. 2024 Brazilian stock cars feel better but I still do not feel fully connected.

There is one final piece of the puzzle coming in v1.6 which should complete the picture and give us the feel we all want, well fingers crossed it does any way.

I was so diappointed in AMS 2 I was really enjoying it too. Then the dreaded update came and my racing world came crashing down around me. My game now will not save for whatever racing and let me race again. If anyone knows the answer for a fix to this issue let me know. I have gone to their discord and haven't got an answer to the problem yet. If you what the issues it your help would be greatly appreciated !

I have not heard of this issues myself but if I ever have troubles with anything from Steam i tend to start off by verifying files and folders for the effected title and see if that helps.

I have not tried these cars yet, lol, I am blown away by the VR, I only bought a Quest 2, And Amazing, If you got a bad ass GPU then the Quest 2 I imagine will be hugely better than say a weaker GPU, I am so glad I got the Quest 2 VR head set, And Dirt Rally in VR is also bad ass, Oh and on ACC, VR is bad ass lol, Nor I am struggling to go back to the TV screen, I would argue VR would be better than triples, And the VR head sets that is coming out the future is here, The Bigscreen VR I am actually going to start saving for, Honestly I was wary about getting a VR, I wish I got the Quest 3 now, lol.... Yeah I highly recommend you getting a VR head set, It makes Sim Racing a different world, Why so many more people isn't using VR, Oh the cost, If Quality VR head sets was made for everyone to afford, Sim Racing would be a lot bigger than it is, The world of VR have come a long way since I tried the PSVR and the PS4, I wish I did get a better VR head set than the Quest 2, Now I know though I will take a lot more thought into the next VR head set I get, Also if you got kids the Quest can teach kids so much its unreal, Go sit in the Space Station, lol, Go to the African Plains, Go under the Sea, VR should be used in schools, But yeah VR is the future of gaming, Honestly grab a VR head set, You won't be disappointed, I wasn't lol..... VR for sim racing is an amazing experience and when I sold my Rift S it was with the intention of buying a better headset but things happened and unfortunately my journey back to VR has taken a backseat and will now be part of a bigger upgrade to sim racing setup later in the year. Thankfully my curved ultra wide monitor allows me to still enjoy my sim racing in the meantime,

@@SIMRACINGJASON Bro I would love a curved monitor, I am a Beam NG addict sometimes, I can't get Beam NG to work in VR, And Beam NG would be great on a curved monitor, I loves the 4x4ing on Beam NG, I even bought Mud Runner, Lol, The FFB on Mud Runner is actually fantastic, It is worth spending an hour or two roaming around in big Russian lorries and 4x4s, Plus when you get a VR headset you will have more choice, There is a headset called bigscreen VR, All I can say is wow, I want a Big screen VR headset now, I am going to start saving, Plus Pimax 5k is only 600 pounds, The Big Screen VR looks the best though, For comfort, They is the smallest VR you can get, Boosted Media done a review of a Motion rig, Wearing the Big Screen VR, The price is a bit ouch, Nearly 2 grand I think for it all, The Quest 3 though is 4k, Making it the best PCVR for the price, VR come a long way since PSVR, Lol, I got an elite strap with battery pack on it for longer gameplay, Dirt Rally 2 is like wow aswell, Yeah when you get a VR headset, You will have more choice and better prices, I will say though when you jump into VR it's hard to go back, Plus the quest is a stand alone VR, Amazing for kids education.... At least you will have more choice in VR when you do upgrade bro..... Happy SIM racing though yeah.... Peace....

@mad-b264 I did see the BigScreen VR headset and for comfort and size it looks like the best unit out there at the moment. I think the Quest 3 is the best bang for your buck and will possibly be the headset I go with after really enjoying my Rift S, but I will see where the tech is towards the end of the year when I look again at VR.

If you really want to be immersed in the virtual world you should get VR with a 4090.

I was a big VR fan when I had my Rift S but after selling it to buy a better headset and then having the budget diverted else where, thank you real life, I’ve not got back on the VR bandwagon but you are right it’s the most immersive way to experience sim racing and I will come back one day that’s for sure.

@@mpresto15 It really sucks that you need to spend so much $$ on a 4090 to get good VR but personally vr an hiking are my main hobbies and hiking is pretty cheap. I don't have any toys like a side by side, boat... so I upgrade my hardware every few months. I still don't have a direct drive base cause VR visuals is the most important thing for me.

There is no sequential shifter support

There should be as my Sim Jack sequential shifter works ok with AMS2. There is an option to bind a secondary or alternative shifter and you can use that for the sequential shifter.

Look how cool I am Brazilian, I live 200 km from the Goiania track in Brasilia, waiting to see these cars up close, Brasilia race track is undergoing renovation and should return to the category. The simulator is well regarded in Europe. I would like to know if you watch the real stock car race out there?

Mate it must be great to see these cars race in real life, unfortunately here in the UK the races are not even on TV so my only exposure to this series has been via AMS2.

Physics feel the same to me. Still far too slidey and and weird weightlessness to the cars.

Mate you are not only with that thought as some other sim racers are stating they are having issues with the suspension physics when in a compressed state, i didnt find that myself so clearly Reiza still have to work to do, but for me it felt like a clear step forward but compared with older Stock cars and i enjoyed how the cars felt in my opinion. lets see what the final piece of the puzzle that is V1.6 brings to the table mate.

I have not experienced that in a significant manner lately in AMS2, as much I do in ACC which (for me) still displays a rear-end vagueness. I have been able to negate that to a large degree by fine tuning my ButtKicker to reflect only rear slip.

Thats a shame to hear mate and i do hope the fact they have held back the release of v1.6 means they taken more time to sort out some of the issues' that may be holding this sim back for you.
