AMSTERDAM: Anti-Israel riots! “Hunting scenes for Jews!” Palestinians planned pogrom!
After reports of injured Israeli soccer fans in riots in Amsterdam, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent two rescue planes to the Netherlands on Friday morning, according to his office. Netanyahu “views the terrible incident with the utmost seriousness,” the office of the head of government said. In a phone call with his Dutch counterpart Dick Schoof, Netanyahu spoke of an “intentional anti-Semitic attack” and called for more security for Jewish people in the Netherlands.
Netanyahu's office did not provide any details about how the “very violent incident against Israeli citizens” occurred.
Dutch broadcaster AT5 reported on clashes between fans at a Europa League game between Ajax Amsterdam and Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday evening. According to the report, there were brawls and vandalism in the city center. A “large number of mobile units” were on the scene, and reinforcements had been requested, the report continued.
The Israeli Embassy in the United States reported that “hundreds” of Maccabi fans had been attacked and assaulted in Amsterdam as they left the stadium. In the online service X, the embassy spoke of a “mob that attacked innocent Israelis”.
