If you don't like mini quilts, use those tiny half square triangles to make a border for some other quilt, or put them together to make a scrappy block out of them. That's what I do. Happy quilting!

Laura Lynn, you talk about crazy my children always tell me it's not a long drive mom it's just a short putt. But I do have a question, Can you use bias tape for the stems?
@MPQS7 жыл бұрын
ROFL, As long as your having a good time they can think whatever they want. I don't see why you couldn't use bias tape for the stems.

Hi Cathy, Can you help me before I go nuts? I have ripped out more seams lately trying to line up the strips on the inside and edges of my quilt. Do you have a good method of doing this? I pin like crazy and sew the strips and they are off a quarter inch. HELP! Hope you understood what I meant.

I have used multiple different chalks that have washed out. I haven't tried this one yet but I will do some tests and let everyone know my findings.

Have to say one thing that did bug the hell out of me was the silly giggle after nearly everything you said. It did get a little annoying after just 10 minutes so sorry had to turn it off before the end of video...

Ah Tracy, I am so deeply concerned for you that a giggle brings out this angst in you. I hope that you find your happiness and you too can giggle again. If there is anything we can do to help you smile please let us know. Please seek some help if your feeling so depressed! It can get better. Sincerely Pop.

+ Tracy Brewer - You know, many times when I meet someone who has a different voice, personality, style of speaking or writing from me, my ears or thoughts often momentarily trigger something like a piece of chalk against an old-fashioned blackboard. And then my commonsense kicks in after listening to or observing them for a few minutes (or sometime it takes several videos or hours). I'm not trying to reprimand you here; I just want to share some understanding thoughts. I like who I am, but my life and those I interact with would get pretty boring (and un-stimulating) real quick if everyone we encountered had my same personality. If you've ever watched Eleanor Burns' videos (Quilt In A Day) you may have had a similar experience that you had here with Lauren. I've read comments on Eleanor's videos how other people at first didn't like HER voice/personality/presentation style. And to be honest, at first I didn't care for Eleanor either, but she grew on me as I got to know her through the videos and value the information and instructions she gave the viewers like myself. This seems to be a pattern among some of Eleanor's viewers who are new to her YT channel. So your comment was not all that surprising to me. "Variety is the spice of life." "Different strokes for different folks." "I say toe-MAY-toe, you say toe-MAH-toe", etc. - You get the picture. If I limited myself to only watching those YT quilting videos (or even other subjects) of those people who were exactly like me, well, I probably wouldn't have learned very much about quilting. I would have had to pay a bundle of money and time to go to quilting classes and then have less money to spend on fabric, notions, or tools. You might be surprised to know the first time I watched Lauren I wasn't eager to subscribe because she didn't have the same presentation style I wanted that day. But I came back and have since subscribed and I must say, watching today's video was quite enjoyable. I felt like I was a neighbor who'd dropped in to look at free instructions for a tulip block and we ended up having a cup of coffee and laughing with each other. I thought we had a very pleasant "visit", so I'll continue to drop by again. Thanks for keeping the door open, Lauren. At 70 years old, I'm learning to enjoy these kinds of moments of diversion from the crazy, mixed up, unsafe world we currently live in. And the bonus is I pick up a few more tips about sewing, quilting, or just appreciating life in general. Mom and Pop Quilt Shop's YT channel may not be everyone's cup of tea, but neither is MSQC in spite of their large number of subscribers or videos produced. If you watch their earlier ones (8 years ago!), you'll see they weren't as polished as they are now. There are things I don't like or agree with about that YT quilting channel and others, but I'm still grateful to learn from them -- and the comments of their viewership. Sometimes it's not a huge new quilting lesson, but rather a different way of doing a particular task that I find helpful or inspiration for a completely different project. But I also realize that time is precious for all of us and each day we need to choose what activities will make the biggest difference in our own lives or in those of others. No, Lauren's giggling isn't my everyday personality - yet some days I'm really grateful I still have the physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional health capacity to act that way myself and join in with others doing the same. There's a lovely freedom in being able to laugh at one's self. Sometimes that comes from the cost of having experienced life's trials and eventually having victory over them. For me, it's a valuable refreshment one can't buy with money; I'm so glad Lauren gifted it to me today.
