It's called the boomerang theory. E.g., the British created all sorts of economic laws and structures for their former colonies and got the IMF to pass them. Flash forward 40 years and those same economic structures they now apply to their own populous. I would not be surprised if/when things get so bad in Europe with housing, healthcare, income inequality, etc., that governments treat protesters as hostile/invaders and against the interest of the hegemony, that anything goes. You see it already in America with Cop Cities, the use of military weapons, serviceman from the military serving in police forces. People can dismiss this as far fetched, but I can see it happening if we don't stand up for equal human rights.

That woman completely misrepresents what happened. There were no dogs unleashed. That is an outright lie. People were not sleeping their tents. They were hitting people in tents because they had piles of stones in tents, making it a risk for police to enter. People were warned to leave numerous times. Protesters used violence, and caused an estimated 1.5 million euros of damages to the university.

In 1977 I was seeking asylum from the Apartheid South African authorities as a draft resister avoiding being called up to the war in Angola: the Dutch people were incredibly hospitable and supportive. Also to thousands of young people seeking asylum from oppression in South American countries like Chile and others.
