Isn't it rewarding looking back at old builds and seeing how well you have come as a builder? Thanks for doing a survivor build video it was truly enjoyable knowing your attachment to that particular build.

Thank you. We all have some sort of attachment to our builds. Seems like modelers enjoy hearing these stories!

I agree and have done that a few times. I have a few video's of builds that I show both new build and old build side by side, Look for 69 Yenko Camaro, 70 Superbird and 66 Shelby GT350H! Also have done that with a 70 Chevelle SS454, 69 Super Bee and maybe more.

Nice build Raoul, especially for 30 years old. My mom's first car was a 66 Chevelle Malibu. She bought me the 67 Chevelle model and the 66 flip nose to combine to make a model of her car. My scratchbuilding skills have never been good, so I traded a bunch of kits to a friend for him to do the build for me. It turned out really nice.

Yes, please do another build of this kit. Would love to see it. I lost all of my models in 2000 along with my house in a fire. I enjoyed the story behind this post and would like to see your new build alongside this one. As you know these kits can still be found on eBay, and who knows Revell or AMT may reissue them again someday.
@TheMuscleCarModeler3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Sorry you lost many things in a house fire. When I do finish the other one I will show them side by side in a video. I have 2 more Revell 67 Chevelles in my stash. One to build and started, the other one is for my resin 64 Chevelle that i still have not built.
@erics34243 жыл бұрын
@@TheMuscleCarModeler Nice! It is good to have backups. I would think that a '65 Chevelle would be a better doner for the '64. I don't have either the '65 or '67 Chevelle kits yet, but being a Mopar fan I am still collecting kits for those builds.
@TheMuscleCarModeler3 жыл бұрын
I have a lot of Mopars as well. The resin 64 Chevelle is based off the AMT Craftsman series 64 Chevelle. That had a molded shut hood and was 1/25 scale. The resin kit has the hood opened up and uses the 67 kit parts as it is also 1/25. The Revell 65 is 1/24 and the AMT 65 wagon is a longer wheel base.

Great to have old builds, to see how your building skills have improved. I had a buddy who had an original 1967 Chevelle SS 396, fast car, he used it only for drag strip duty, ran in the 12 second range. These cars have under carriage components that 'clones' usually don't have, so fakes are easy to spot if you know where and what to look for. Yes if the interior is red, so is the carpet. GM usually only had a black carpet for white interiors, probaby because carpets get extremely dirty and sun faded fast, so 'White' was not an option. My friends car is a dark blue metallic, with black interior. Personally I like the creme yellow, can't remember the chevelle code name but on a 66 pontiac that color is called 'candle light cream', and with a black or white interior looks awesome.
@TheMuscleCarModeler3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I think you mean Butternut Yellow. Not sure if that is correct for 67 but I was thinking about that color for the 64 in my stash.

I built a Revell 67 Chevelle about 15 yrs ago, I can't believe it's been that long, when I got back into serious building and polishing lacquers, it's also black with dark red int., I left the trim black for a more sinister look, the rims in the kit are like a modern Keystone Classic, it's so beautiful, one of my best even to this day, and I love looking at my old builds.

Any tips for painting the aluminium in the rims?
@TheMuscleCarModeler Жыл бұрын
I just paint the black deep sections first with a fine paint brush. Then after they dry do the aluminum sections with the same fine paint brush. It’s a bit time consuming but works.

I hope revell is thinking of reissueing these kits again .i had one of these kits that must have been one of the first issue because it was molded in lite blue. It fell off a shelf inside the box and it shatted like glass. I went on ebay to find a replacement body.this time in white

Nice build i think a couple videos ago i suggested you should do a 67 chevelle video i hope it was me that inspired you to do this video but any way this was a awesome kit that revell did . have you done any other versions like 454. Different colors or wheel combos etc would like to see you build those. I was thinking for mine a 427 baldwin with star rims and a 3 inch cowl hood . keep up the good work
