There is only one more 1:20 scale pickup truck kit by AMT to build: the 1993 GM Sonoma 4x4 pickup truck;originally a Lindberg kit rebranded as an AMT kit. At the local hobby shop that I like to buy kits and supplies from,has the 1993 GMC Sonoma priced at $35.00 (with city,county,state,and federal sales taxes added to the subtotal price); about $3.00 to $4.00 more expensive than the kit you have just reviewed.The trucks both kits are based on,are 26 years old the same age as me;because I was born in 1993;the same year the Colorado Rockies were established.

@Robert Darnell I agree.Other kits Chis could do a full build review on,is AMT's re-released 1978 Ford F150 4x4 Firestone pickup;and the highly anticipated;re-release of the 1:25 scale GMC Astro 95 cabover the same kit as the Chevy Titan 90;just with different emblems.

I never knew the kit needed to be washed in Simple Green (any other cleaner?) before paint until I started watching you. I assume it’s to remove oils from the factory? Also, after parts are painted on the trees and removed, what paint do you use to touch up the parts? Just curious if you need to have craft paints that match your spray paints? How crucial is a paint booth for a casual builder? I’ll use that Pledge Floor cleaner over the final build, too, thanks to you. ...You have inspired me to build another model... I just ordered a Lamborghini Countach... After watching your vids and seeing how great the results can be, I wanted to try again. Now, with KZbin, I should be able to have better information for better results. 👍🏻

Have you run into any issues using automotive spray paint on the plastic parts. I've heard sometimes the paint can be too hot(harsh chemically)?
@hpiguy5 жыл бұрын
Nope, most of the paints I use are Rustoleum 2X brand which can be used directly on plastic. There are lacquers that will be too harsh for plastic, you can use them but you must use a primer and make sure you get full coverage. It's best to test on a piece of scrap if you are not sure.

History lesson Nissan use to be Datsun
@dc_modelworks5 жыл бұрын
Datsun was a division of Nissan, and it was what they sold most of their cars under in North America. (They were always "Nissan" overseas). There was a time in the 80s where Nissan and Datsun existed together in the US marketplace (my folks had owned both a Datsun and a Nissan when I was little), but Nissan phased the Datsun name out by the end of the decade. Datsun exists again now, but only in India and SE Asia, as just Nissan's "basic transportation" brand. Sadly all they have are now these tiny little subcompacts that are notorious for folding up really badly in a crash.
@brianmackie54795 жыл бұрын
Daniel Kuhlmeyer they were all Datsun in the Uk until around 1983/84 when they were rebranded as Nissan
@dc_modelworks5 жыл бұрын
@@brianmackie5479 overseas I meant more like Japan and East Asia markets--I probably should have been more specific about that. I think the phasing out of Datsuns started about the same time in the US and by the end of the decade Datsun was gonzo.
