I was thinking of acquiring that set and paint it in gold, so at least I'm reassured I was'nt the only one to think about desacrating those beautiful models :) I also think if building a display case in wood and glass, similar to old ships display cases and put those beauties inside. I hope we can see a picture of them whe tou have spray-painted them in gold !

I've always heard it was to fully paint models and use a gloss overcoat for better decal adhesion and gloss coat over the decals to protect the finish. That's what I always do and would highly recommend it. The ships look much more realistic this way as well. Decals on bare plastic will also scrape off easily! Spraying the decal sheets with gloss lacquer will make them much less brittle during application to the ships! AMT decals are very likely to break apart when using them as they originally come!

I have this exact same kit, and the one thing I'm missing is that little adapter that you've fit into the Enterprise C. The steel bar does not fit into the hole that is on the model and I fucked it up by attaching a powerful magnet over that hole without finding out that this ship is front heavy, therefore it falls over. What is that adapter and where can I buy one? Also, if you know how, how do I remove super glue from a magnet and plastic?

the original set was 1701 - 1701A - 1701D the 2nd set was the 1701 - 1701A - 1701B

I wonder if some clever someone out there might be able to come up with a decal set for the Enterprise A? I'm sure there are those out there who'd buy a second set of the kit just to get another refit and do it up as the "A". I don't recall any significant difference between the 1701 refit and the A, nothing external that'd show up in a model that size, anyway. Am I wrong?

Brian Berthold First of all I'm not crying over the fact there is no Enterprise A. Just pointing it out as a complete set should have the A so people aren't disappointed if they buy this set and there is No A ( As this is a review of the kit ). Ps I sprayed all my ships in this kit Gold so nothing having the A makes no difference to me. Yes The Enterprise A was the Yorktown then renamed to the Enterprise but would like to point out that It's not cannon as it was never mentioned on Screen. I really like this kit and I'm delighted AMT do it and gave us the NX 01 in scale with the rest

Prefer to have the large scale Models so I can drill out the Windows, Clear Paint the Deflector and Warp Nacelles so I can have them Lighted.

Yeah I had a Enterprise D Model I Lit up. This was the Version that came with Fiber Optic Lighting. I ignored the Fiber Strands, used a Dremel with a 1/64 and 1/32 Drill Bits to drill out the Windows. Talk about a LOT of Windows. Also used Reflective Silver Tape to make the Lights Brighter, spliced in some Christmas LED Lights, and it was perfect. Tried doing that with a 1/350 Scale Refit Enterprise, but had a few Lighting Issues, and light bleeding through the Hull/Seems.

Missing the Enterprise-A is a real screw-up. You need 2 refits, one with NCC-1701-A decals... Somebody at AMT really brain-farted.

Well, after watching this video I am going to have to break out my Nerd Glasses. These look like nice models but I just am not a fan of the "Snap Together" Models. I also like the larger scale models
