Thank you so much for this video. I live in Carolina now, far from any tracks,. I grew up in Galesburg, Ill. during the 60's and would ride my bike up to the station and watch all the trains and masses of passengers going to and fro. When the trains would stop I'd go out and stand on the walkway near the Locomotives just so I could listen to their low rumbling and feel the power shaking my clothes as they pulled away. I would get so excited from watching and listening to them, AND of course waving to the engineer!!! I'm 62 years old, and today you have given me that excitement that I hadn't felt in well over 50 years... Thank you again....

I certainly will. I have a few ancestors who worked for union Pacific, but sadly never got to meet them. I have some special connections with some railroad workers on the BNSF, UP, and Amtrak. The first thing I do when I see a train is think, "Just imagine the amount of time it takes to build these behemoths and how technology in these machines, how far it has come." God has blessed us with these monsters, not only to help our economy, but for great entertainment like this video. Stay safe my friend while watching these behemoths!

I lived in Fresno for nine years and Amtrak was my near-exclusive (by choice mainly) way of traveling to my home area of Sacramento County. I've only see the Dash-8 locos painted in either Phase III or CalTrans paint schemes (for the two that CDTX bought from AMTK) on the San Joaquins route.

it would appear you don't like the sound of the 12 cylinder 7FDL engine? But that is what makes the Dash 8 unique. If you hide it with the K5LA blows it sounds like every other locomotive on railfanning videos. 0:28 nice catch of 509 still in Phase IV! (also seen at 1:50, 2:44, 3:33, 4:58, 6:05, 8:18, 8:46, 10:05, 12:22, 12:48, 13:29, and 15:10) 1:11 that Phase IV baggage was also a neat find! (as well as one on the back!) 8:46 Wow! nice catch of a rare movement of a Cascades NPCU! 9:12 nice catch of that SP daylight private car! I've never seen it without SP 4449! 9:20 nice to see 90208 before repainting! (also seen at 9:38, 11:56, 14:33, 14:47, 15:34) 13:18 nice to see the Cascades NPCU on a different train! 18:43 WOW! An acutal freight engine helping TWO Amtrak Dash 8's! It would be even more cooler if the UP engine was a GE one! A lot of these Dash 8's have great-sounding horns! But I wouldn't be surprised if Amtrak starts selling some of them to commuter operators or leasing companies! It would be nice if they repainted at least one of the Dash 8s is Phase III "Pepsi Can" colors!

Nate Jackson They're really not all everyone thinks they are. At full HEP load they only produce 1685 traction horsepower and they are really quite slow to accelerate.

Here in New England we have The Amtrak's downeaster to Portland and Brunswick ME. Coming from Boston MA. It would be awesome to see a Dash-8 for once on them. We have the P- units on there and the empty F-units that are only used for controlling the train. I love Amtrak and all it's different types of engines.
