About this video: On June 24, 2024, an Amtrak MP15DC (numbered 537) was tasked with powering a one-way equipment move from Boston, Massachusetts to Portland, Maine due to a lack of other powered equipment available in the equipment move’s consist and a shortage of available P42DCs at Amtrak’s Southampton Street Yard in Boston (where the train was to depart from). The 537 towed one Amfleet cafe car and Downeaster NPCU 90220 up to Maine. I crossed paths with this train as it moved up the Western Route (MBTA’s Haverhill Line) at the Wakefield and Reading stations. Two days later on June 26, a return trip equipment move operated the opposite direction along the same route as the move two days prior, this time with P42DC 127 leading the 537 and a mix of other equipment on the way back to Boston’s Southhampton Street Yard. The videos of this second move were taken in southern New Hampshire at two more locations: the Swampscott street crossing in Newfields and the Front street crossing in Exeter.
