Amtrak NPCU

Yep, #90208 is back in SoCal with a new look! Phase III is still my fav but this "Veterans" scheme is better than phase IMHO and good thing is, Amtrak is showing love for Veterans. :)
Anyway, Here's a video of Amtrak's third "Veterans" paint scheme on AMTK NPCU(Non Powered Control Unit) #90208. #90208 came back from the east(Beech Grove) on Southwest Chief #3 yesterday(10/18/15) with AMTK 455. This video also included - AMTK 42(the first Veterans unit), #90208 on phase V, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, Coast Starlight #14, Metrolink, Union Pacific light power move, BNSF Warbonnet, Amtrak genset switcher #591. By the way, I saw a Pacific Harbor Line unit with a pink ribbon and UP 1988 on a powermove. Got them both in the same video at the same time, just thought I'd let you know that.

*****​ Yes a pink ribbon PHL unit, the one I caught I think was #68, however when I saw the locomotives in the yard, I found out PHL had assigned pink ribbons to ALL their locomotives including the CEFX gensets that they acquired. I believe they did this for breast cancer awareness month. If you get the chance you should stop by Wilmington and film a few.

90208 Was rougher than a cob when she came into Beech Grove. It suprised me she came out as well as she did. She was actually squirted with automotive paint, as opposed to Emron. I wish I could post some pics in the comments.

OK, what is 90208 it looks like an F40 but it is missing its radiator fans and has a baggage door on it. somebody clue me in! is it just a cab car unit or something else?

It is an F40 but it is gutted out. and it is used as a baggage/cabcar hence the name cabbage unit. it can run on its own so its just attend at the end of trains and used as a cab car

Really shoulda been put on the Hiawatha, they use the NPCUs the most. Putting it on the Surfliner was a really bad decision. R.I.P Midwest Not a single exclusive rare unit :( No NS, no Amtrak, no anything. And IAIS doesn't count cuz it's only here Also there's no reason to put 4 locomotives on such a short train

+Railfan346 Nope. They've only done a P42, a ACS64 and this NPCU. It's unlikely a GP40 would be done since they use them for MOW service.

Cabbage is a combination of cab and baggage, because it doubles as a baggage car, if I'm not mistaken
