Actually engines 101-111 where delivered in phase 4 and assigned to trains in the northeast
@harrisonofcolorado88863 жыл бұрын
Another fun fact: AMTK 46 was painted for the 50th anniversary because Joe Biden became the 46th president. There was talk of Joe Biden taking the train to DC just like Obama in 2009 and possibly 46 would be on that train, but after the insurrection at the capital, Biden chose not to take the train to his inauguration. But he took the train to celebrate Amtrak's 50th anniversary. At least, that's what I heard.

22:05 At 2:00 in the morning on February 4th, 2018, Amtrak 47 was leading Silver Star train No. 91 to Miami, Florida. As the train made it to South Carolina, it went down the hill so quickly! The Amtrak engineer slammed the brakes, but it keeps gathering speed. To prevent a disaster under the highway bridge up in Cayce, the runaway train was switched into a siding. Due to the high speed, Amtrak 91 unfortunately derailed and caught fire, killing the Amtrak engineer right away. This is because it collided into a CSX road freight in a siding there in Cayce, South Carolina. The CSX engineer on the lead engine No. 130 also died after being hit by the Amtrak train. 116 people were injured, and both lead engines were scrapped. R.I.P. Amtrak 47 R.I.P. CSX 130 R.I.P.
