Nice video Alan! Curse them people of Lakeland who ended the horns! They WILL get someone killed, if not more people, and it will be their faults. When I'm an engineer, I will blow the horn at all quiet zones, and if I get in trouble with someone, I will have to think of an excuse.

I agree. You got trains that needs to be heard and idiots like the ones that said "no horn blowing allowed" needs to re-think what would happen if one of their family members was hit by a train crossing a "no horn blowing zone." Keep up the good work Alan.

How can a city stop trains from using their horns? They have no jurisdiction over the right-of-way, and I would think that FRA regulations would supersede some petty local ordinance.

+milleniumforce what they've done in SLC along the 88 mile corridor where FrontRunner operates is they've put medians preventing you from crossing over to the other gate which seems better in the long run. It's also made the valley more quiet.

Awesome Video Alan! Hate the no-horn law. At least CSX fixed the gap problem in between gates

Hey Alan. You should tell people to either like or dislike the video to show how many people disapprove of the no horn zones.

At least the crews have the bells available. A couple of days ago while servicing a client near the Richmond Pacific right-of-way, Richmond, CA, USA, I observed a RichPac engineer sounding the "Q" at South 34th Street while delivering ten hoppers to the Union Pacific - the grade-crossing signal, normally a no-horn point, never triggered. Probably an open-circuited relay coil.

Must be the Damn yuppies that moved in that area want their quiet. If someone gets killed? They should all be charged for murder.

You wanna know why Lakeland has no horns...because the population nearest the tracks eats too many Sunrail brand cheese sticks. Cannot explain such an asinine policy otherwise.

Yeah, no horn and one of the gates is late in coming dkwn... nice.
