Amtrak Zephyr Stops in Omaha on its Way to California

The Westbound California Zephyr stops at the Omaha, Nebraska, USA, station on May 24, 2023 to pick up a large group of passengers, most of them are heading west to Colorado & San Francisco, California, the final destination of the Zephyr.
Train #5, seen here, originated earlier this afternoon at Chicago Union Station and departed on-time at 2:00 PM, arriving in Omaha at 11:53 PM, 1 hour behind schedule, due to BNSF freight traffic congestion in eastern Iowa. Omaha is also the first refueling stop for the westbound Zephyr after Chicago. You can see the fuel truck at the far end of the platform as the train departs toward the end of this video. R.I.P. locomotive #816, seen here pulling the train. It was severely damaged in the grade crossing accident with a milk tank truck in Keenesburg, CO on the night of January 29, 2024.

Very Good eye! I hadn't even realized that that was 816. That was a sad to lose that locomotive. At least everyone survived. Thanks for pointing that out!

I was very happy to see on this evening's Zephyr, that the third sleeping car has returned to the daily Superliner manifest, just in time for the start of Amtrak's peak travel season (May through September). The previous six months had seen Amtrak management inexplicably reduce the number of sleeping cars to only two, one of which was/is a crew-dormitory sleeper.
