As a diamond I would like to say that many people who are higher in ranks underestimate diamonds. The only reason most of them are stuck there is because we are either 1: all improving at the same rate. 2: Very mechanical and going for to many unnecessary shots or 3: Ball chasing so much that everybody has a 50% to win because of obnoxious chasing or people being patient. This is only my opinion of course because I myself am one of the mechanical players that gets tilted to much because of ball chasing.

To be fair, this is the newest Gen to Rocket League so expect many people to be down a rank type or 2. Like for example, even around gold to platinum can you find people who've won Diamond championships, they're air dribbling, hitting ceiling shots, flip resetting, wave dashing, the whole shebang. So it was kind of expected that some Diamonds may be higher in other ranks, while being diamond in 1.

As a previously cocky hardstuck diamond 3, I have learned that when diamonds say: I can speedflip, airdribble and flip reset. they are no where consistent/ optimized enough to make good use of it. they lack recovery, game sense, reliabilty and outplayability. if diamonds just wait in net when some other diamond tries flipresetting, the ball most of the times just bounces slowly towards their net causing an immidiate counter attack.

I find diamond now a lot of us can flip reset, speed flip and all of that but that’s because it looks cool and is hard. It’s like when trickshotting or doing tricks in any game you want to learn it because of the hardness of it. There’s always “flip resets don’t get u to champ etc” but in saying that, it would then be easier to climb ranks once you learn more basics since already knowing the harder stuff

As a diamond I can say we either have the worst mechanics or the best mechanics, from my experience recently the good mechanics side has been rising and becoming more common. I am among the more mechanical side, and I can say that no mechanics are too crazy for diamond players as lots of us religiously train our mechanics. Every time any of them air dribble or ceiling shot, even sometimes air roll they keep saying straight away "No way that's diamond". Having said that there were so many people who were definetly not diamond.
