After the Armory Show in 1913, artists in America became inspired to emulate the modern art that Europeans were creating. However, this wasn’t the case for all artists, many American artists were interested in creating work that focused solely on the United States. These artists, like Thomas Hart Benton and John Steuart Curry, wanted to create work around the landscapes and people they knew best-the Midwest. Join AMWA staff as we dive into the formation of American Regionalism.
