From an old sax player and actor .... This is really quite amazing, both musically and in terms of imagery. Glad I stumbled onto it while looking for something else. I'll definitely be looking for more, Amy. :-)

Just to prove this wasn't a computer software to those haters whom are just jealous of her capabilities, you can hear her saxophone's keys clicking as she plays.
@athanasiosdiamantidis32645 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure nobody thinks this is coming from a computer, I mostly see immature jazz wannabes below complaining about her "too pure" tone. No "jazz god" ever said the sax needs to sound like a dinosaur all the time, right...

I'm so familiar with The Platters that with Amy using different dynamics and phrasing I find it rather strange. Very nice, of course. BTW, I wonder if she has heard The Platters' version.?

Would rather have just watched Amy play instead of all the arty-farty visuals which made the film look like an advert or a video of someone trying to look dreamy and distant .... doesn't do her talent and music any favours. Just let Amy play.

Not to diss any of your other "Styles", but this particular rendition is showing more of who you are IMHO. Now,,, what are you working on that let's that female inner cat let some smoke and punch show up?
@antoniomelo55176 жыл бұрын
I loved it, but I think that in this music, the saxophonist has to be more free and I have noticed that she was always following the music itself and she could be more free and predictable, like Coleman Hawkins
@zvonimirtosic61718 жыл бұрын
Same complaint here. The tone is too pure and too smooth, that it appears the soloist and the orchestra are made on a computer using software instruments, and not recorded on a real set. Indeed, were they recorded on a set?
@davidmiller51569 жыл бұрын
Nice but honestly the tone is very one dimensional. i could have believed I was hearing an accordion and not saxophone, the tone is so pure it left me a little stale.
@Michaelsax57 жыл бұрын
Classical treatment to the music. Check out Bob Berg(Julliard), Michael Brecker (Univ of Indiana), and Jerry Bergonzi (New England Conservatory) for much more higher level playing.
@alexanderbelov68926 жыл бұрын
IMHO this is saxophone subtone play. This is special effect applied for some kinds of sax music.
@josephrader10066 жыл бұрын
Crazy how she doesn't want to have an aggressive tone? She obviously isn't trying to play this in a strictly jazz style, it sounds much more akin to something like glazounovs concerto than some post bop tune. The opaque tone is like way more appropriate for this setting.

Sounds like a classical reed player attempting to play pop music. Never comes off very well.
@robpealing5 жыл бұрын
Jazz players have been taking classical, opera etc and altering the style for many years so what is wrong in doing the opposite?
@espr75646 жыл бұрын
A great player but for this music? 😕 where's the feeling, the style is completely wrong, stick with classics honey this isn't good.
@davidguilfoyle6 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with the playing at all, but the whole ambience of this is nauseous. It felt more like an expensive perfume add than a musical performance. A bit of a sell-out really.

How is she even making money off of her "talent"? Most high schoolers are better than her.
@athanasiosdiamantidis32645 жыл бұрын
Without making any statement on her capability, being talented isn't the deciding factor that will make you money, it's good publicity, self-promotion and the like. Though the latter is a skill in itself, it's becoming easier and easier nowadays with social media being prevalent. If more people know you and like your content, you will make money. Oh and the high schooler argument? Pretty much almost every school/college/uni wind band has a massive weakness in the sax section, in big bands the saxes are most out of rhythm, in jazz the "horrible sax tone/technique but I'm improvising so I can play anything" is used way too much as an excuse...it's very hard to find OK sax players, especially young ones.
