@ Brian Camp, totally agree. I turned 20 in 1982, from then until I hit 40, they were halcyon days. No mobile phones, people actually spoke with each other, real connections, real friendships. Also, had the best music from early, mid 70's, right up to mid 90's...then it all turned to crap. With some exceptions, Pink, Dave Gray, Boy & Bear, Michael Buble, Josh Groban. Every time I heard this song I remember my fiancé who passed in a car accident back in 86. Sweetheart I will remember and missed you all my life. I have dated my share of men but it’s not the same- my first love. Still single. Probably will not find another like him. So sitting here alone listening to this masterpiece. I have on cassette and cd, I’m so glad I kept them . When I think of him I play this song. The only problem I have during the song is it broke my heart and I start to cry so hard like the day my father took me to his funeral which I didn’t want to attend. My father told me to go so I will believe. RIP. I hope to reunite with you one day. I attended one of her concerts in the late 90s. I was so emotional I couldn’t go to any of her concerts since. Good bye Mitch.

My mother passed away August 1991, then my dad a year later in August. I had not heard this song until a few months after my mother passed away. It was as if she was speaking to me through the lyrics and at the same time I was speaking to her. There are certain songs that wrench your heart in ways that can’t be adequately described. This song is one of those songs. It is in some ways a piece of my mother just as her smile was part of her. I will forever hold this song close to my heart. It gives to me a sense that my parents are more close to me than ever before. My mother’s last words to me before passing were “from my heart to yours.” ❤️

I dedicated this song to the love of my life back in 1991, before he was deployed to Egypt. He never came home from deployment. 22 years later, when I listen to this song, the memories of him are still as vivid today, as the day I played this song for him. Thought we were only together for a very short time, we loved a life time.

My high school sweetheart dedicated this song to me back in the summer of 94. I moved to Chicago from Fontana, CA after graduation and he ended up joining the military soon after. Though our lives have taken different paths, every time I hear this song, I can't help but tear up a little, especially at the opening of the song when it says "I will be walking one day, down a street far away, and see a face in the crowd, and smile". RAY CONTRERAS I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU❤

The way music can make you time travel is fascinating. I remember a year after high school breaking up with my first love. There is no heart ache like the first time you experience it. She met someone else, she moved on and I reached the acceptance stage, you break up with the grief and the person. It’s a weird feeling . I remember this song playing in my car on the way home after talking to her for the first time after not seeing each other for months. You mourn someone you saw everyday and suddenly the wound gets ripped open fresh and you start over . She met someone new, but she gave me that mixed message she felt like she had to move on with someone new but her eyes told me where her heart was. Soon after I found out she got pregnant and got married and life went on. Things left unsaid, a love story not completed and no closure . That is the way life works sometimes. Now that I’m older I don’t feel the pain nor do I care. Through time I’ve learned you don’t stay with the first person you meet at that age, it usually ends in disaster. But the music when you hear it is like a time capsule, it takes you back to that time for a moment before you learned all the life skills that got you through that heartache, that feeling when you accepted it was over even though you knew there was hope but you know to let go. “True love is frozen in time” that line is what made me sob alone in my car, twenty years old so long ago. When the song ends you are back to present time but for a brief moment you can feel the sting and raw emotion .

+Athena Brown This is one song I can listen to 4-5 times in a row without getting tired of it, it's that good. The arrangement is spectacular. It takes a pretty theme and simple lyrics and turns them into something totally memorable. I particularly love the little touches like the harpsichord-like effect at 2:55 that goes da-da-da-da-DAAAA....and those three chords at 4:29 - 4:35 that slowly move upward. This song is so good that Amy Grant didn't even need backup singers to enhance her voice. She sounds perfect doing it solo. A MOR masterpiece!

So relatable to life and sang with so much conviction like they were reliving their most intimate real life moments in the studio.
