I remember this cassette on a never-ending loop in my mom's car during the spring and summer of '91. That would have been the end of 1st grade and the beginning of 2nd grade for me. That summer, she came to the California State Fair, and we went to see her play this live. Pretty sure it was the first concert I ever went to. Good times!

She's really singing - no lip cynghing and the musicians are really playing because the key board guy has sheet music spread out in front of him. She doesn't act nasty, doesn't take her clothes off and doesn't twerk or anything else. Of course this is 29 years ago when music as excellent and people had talent when they got up to perform.

I love Baby Baby as much today as I did when I first heard it in the early 90’s. Every time the song randomly shuffles up on my phone, I always put it on repeat and listen to it over and over again.

The performance was okay, but it kept skipping. I really liked the interview, though; Amy's so friendly and compassionate, yet also firm and never a doormat. She admits her vulnerabilities, yet never plays the "victim" card. We need more women like her in the world now, that's for sure.
@BolsaChicaRadio Жыл бұрын
Probably recorded from a TV telecast on SONY Home Beta Tape on the PAL (UK) protocol and not on the NTSC (US) standard and when transferring those frequencies over to a digital video editing software running NTSC, there are gong to be natural "frame skipping" and/or "frame dropping". That's an unfortunate given. BCRadio

Arsenio had such a good program. So much fresher than Johnny who was getting increasingly lazy both in his humour, and his commitment to the Tonight Show with his many vacations. Arsenio would've been as good a choice to replace him as Dave or Jay.

Actually it's more 80s and the clothes styles is very '80s because we were coming out of the '80s and this was the early nineties. 1990s identified clothes styes started being more noticed in changing styles after 1993 .to Grunge where girls were wearing baby doll flower dresses to their knees and combat boots and the guys and girls will also wear ripped long raggedy jeans with a plaid shirt or a sweater arm sleeves tied loosely around their waist!
@petmitsu Жыл бұрын
@@JAGreen-lj9zi the period of transition in fashion and music from the late 80s to early 90s was strange and unique. It was like an uncertain time and everything felt experimental.

I almost wish artists performing live would just fade out, dim the lights and call it the end as opposed to ending on a random line characterized by a heavy staccato. It's just so unnatural compared to what we're familiar with.

Amy G, like Shania Twain, really devoloped in her twenties. Both, in their teenage years, were not that all attractive: a lot of minor skin blemishes, the hair was not worn correctly... other stuff. But then they really blossomed in their respective twenties. Lady Di was like this too: with her it was not a problem with complexion, rather with facial structure. Her beauty increased *through* her twenties, even into her thirties; she died at the height, and cusp, of her greatest beauty.

Arsenio was so cringe as a host. That is why he never lasted. He catered everything to the black community instead of appealing to everyone. His crowd came across like a group of wild animals who could start fighting at any moment. It felt like the Apollo theater.
@JAGreen-lj9zi2 жыл бұрын
He's having a very intelligent conversation and he is being thoughtful and complementary to his guests. Let's see he's not even dressed like a street dude going to play on a busted neglected park's basketball court he's dressed in a suit and tie and the audience recognize who Amy Grant was because they started cheering and clapping when he announced her name. Please stop! 🤷Get your biggity stereotype observation story straight cuz I saw plenty of black and white American performers on his show that's why you have Amy Grant on this particular segment and your butt was here watching it! actually observe the black person who you speaking about instead of stereotyping him because his skin is black as if all black people are ghetto cuz there are plenty of wild and screaming White people in his audiences carry on at his shows too! 🤷
