Documentary trailers tend to feel similar to one another unless the movie itself has a uniquely stylistic approach. In the case of Amy, the teaser takes what could have easily been a routine introduction to the well known singer’s tragic story, and crafts it into a haunting video photo mosaic. Reverbed song vocals play against an ethereal synth tone as Amy’s mostly disembodied voice paints a picture of mounting isolation. The addition of photo flashes and camera sounds at 00:45 is an stirring representation of fame literally overtaking the images that make up her life. An arresting piece.
