I saw her say in an interview that her grandmother told her love is a losing game for women in their family. And unfortunately that struck true, she was surrounded by men (father and boyfriend) that used her amazing talent and took advantage when they knew she needed help. This song always brings me to tears. I hope she realized how loved she truly was before she left us. RIP to the most soulful and beautiful artist of my generation.

Today it would've been Amy's 39th birthday. It's such a shame she died so young, I wish she was still alive. She truly was one of a kind, an incredibly talented singer and songwriter. "Love Is A Losing Game" has always been one of my favourite songs of Amy. I still don't understand why it doesn't have so many views compared to "Rehab", "Back To Black" or "You Know I'm No Good". @@davejaro Me too 😔 Unfortunately she never toured my country. I wish I would've seen her in concert 🙁 Back in June 2010 my class made a school trip to London for about a week. It was awesome! I remember how excited I was because we visited Camden (e.g. Camden Market and Camden Lock) and I thought to myself how amazing it would be if we met Amy. Sadly that didn't happen. We went to Madame Tussauds and I took a ton of photos of Amy's wax figure. It was really well made. It wore the iconic yellow dress she wore at the Brit Awards 2007. I would've lost my shit if I had encountered her for sure 😅

I agree, this is a fabulous song. Many songwriters though come up with profound lyrics in their younger days. Most of Bowie's best lyrics were penned before he was twenty-five (and I am a huge Bowie fan with all of his albums). Also, though in a different written form, Dylan Thomas had produced some incredible verse by his mid twenties.

I loved Amy Winehouse when I was younger, but the lyrics didn't mean much to me other than sounding pretty. I just liked her voice and the music. Now after going through all of the same things (bar the drugs, which was her specific method of escape), I have a whole new level of respect for her. I'm amazed she lasted as long as she did to be honest. I have a massive amount of respect for her to have achieved so much while being in so much pain.

I remember travelling into London with my mum and brother when I was about 14 or 15 years old. When we got into London, not far from islington/highbury area, the traffic was slow but flowing with a stop start rhythm. As we were gradually edging towards the front of a queue that was caused by a set of traffic lights, a beautiful girl that was sitting and waiting at a bus stop to the left of me caught my eye. I couldn't help but stare at her as she sat there and gaze towards the sky, in her own world. Looking at her I could see that her carefree head was in the clouds just watching the day go past. She then turned her head and noticed me staring at her, we made eye contact. As we paused in that brief but beautiful moment, eyes locked looking at one another, we shared a beautiful subtle smile before breaking into a full on contagious beaming smile, as if we were good friends sharing a private joke and all the passersby were none the wiser. I thought "wow look how beautiful she is and what a gorgeous smile" and then blushingly I turned my gaze away, not wanting to make it awkward for myself nor her. Then I thought to myself "Hold on! Was that?!" I snapped my neck back and realised, Yes! it was indeed Amy Winehouse! She started laughing realising that I had processed, computed and only just clocked on. I exclaimed to my brother "look!! that's Amy Winehouse there!" He was more focused on the road and the lights up ahead as they began to change green he didnt believe me anyway. As the car started moving I quickly put my windows down and shouted "AMY!!" She looked and was laughing even harder and then I knew without doubt it was her. The cars moved off and my moment with her had passed. I still think of that moment, especially when I go into London, as I usually go past the exact same spot. I think what if I would have got out the car and just took my shot at striking a conversation with her. Just to connect with another human and interact before going on about our days and lives. She had a beautiful smile. And I can still picture her in that moment.

This Song get's under everyone's skin. I don't know how she did this magical thing, she was so talented, so heartbroken and Lonely. Her pain was so visible but no one really helped her. This woman really had it shitty. Was a rebel as a teen, just wanted to sing, wanting to be loved. She was only used in her Management. Whenever i See These old Performances i get so sad because she just really didn't Look good and so unhappy. When she sang this Song once where she was all overcried on stage no one cared about it, her voice was breaking there but everyone just wanted to get the Good out of their money. She was too Real for everyone, for this World, for her family and also for any Man. Her smile was just everything and i can't forgive the people that Took it away from her. I wonder how it would be now if she was here with us. What if she never had bulimia? What if she never met Blake who introduced her into hard drugs and alcohol? Words couldn't describe how much i wish from the bottom of my heart that she deserved a better life. If i was a teen or an adult back then at any of her concerts, i would've gave her the most heartwarming hug she needed. So sad how nobody really cared about her. Loosing All of her totally healthy weight? No one cared. Being drunk and stoned all the Time? No one cared. Crying on stage? No one cared beside maybe her background singers. Naked boob pictures Being Published? No one cared cause she wasn't a Minor anymore. Failed rehab? Who cared? No fucking one. She is one of the examples why i am scared. I love to sing and would love it also to make it my job in the Future but i am terriffied of the idea that i could never find real love or getting addicted to drugs ect. Cause i Don't even Take drugs or smoke or drink. Missing her so much, it's unbelievable. Already 11 years? I hate how no one could save her. If others lifetimes exist i want to be in one where Amy Jade winehouse has a better life as a Singer and gets to grand her wish to be a Mother. I understand that there were "friends" and family, they knew she needed help but they didn't help her. Dear God! I wish I could have been there for her. She was just a baby compared to me.
