when you paint the edges, is there any concern of the paint chipping off or wearing away? i know they don't get glazed or resin on them, but since I'm doing keychains, they're sure to be exposed to some abrasive environments (pockets, bags along with other stuff in the bag rubbing against it etc). would it be a good idea to use a small paint brush to lightly brush the edges with resin?

Your work is fantastic and your tips have helped me very much. The ca glue works great for the pins but I would like to glue a shrink plastic piece that I've painted and sealed with resin on both sides to a fabric ribbon. Would you know what type of glue would work best for this? I'd be making lined hair clips.l Thanks so much!

Does anyone know if for the UV torch to flash cure a bit during the process you can just get any of those from Amazon or does it need to be a specific one? The ones I saw available all were super weak but if it's just for flash curing and not the final curing I guess this might be enough?

Uv light torch is only good for flash curing. You need an actual nail curing lamp for the final cure

wait though ive seen a few videos and many people talking about how resin pops off of shrink plastic over time :((( idk what to seal with ugh lol Update: saw other comments that you are using a printable sheet that has a sealant on it to help resin stick better! still dont know what to seal unsealed shrink plastic with before resin though lol
@AmyMade2 жыл бұрын
When I started making shrink plastic videos a few years ago, no one was taking about it. Now, I’m sure it’s a common knowledge. You don’t need to seal printable shrink plastic because it has a special coating over the plastic. But regular shrink plastic, You need to. You can seal with decopage medium or spray sealer, depending on what color medium you used.
@FrizzyBeeCrochet3 жыл бұрын
I saw you had commented on another shrink plastic video about the resin peeling off, but that was quite some time ago. Does putting resin on both sides make it so that there is not peeling off of the resin from the shrink plastic? It looks pretty solid now :)
@AmyMade3 жыл бұрын
The Grafix printables have a special coating on the plastic so the resin doesn’t peel off. Resin will peel off of uncoated plastic so it needs to be sealed with a sealer before the resin coating
@FrizzyBeeCrochet3 жыл бұрын
@@AmyMade You are my lifesaver! I bought the Graffix and am making jewelry but wanted to coat them properly and wanted to make sure I was using the right sealant. I will just use the resin on both sides. :)

Why do you glue it on and resin the pin down? Why not just resin it?
@AmyMade3 жыл бұрын
Because uv light needs to penetrate through an object for the resin to cure. You’ll end up with uncured resin under the finding; uv resin is not meant to be used as a glue unless you’re using transparent/translucent parts. I like to glue it down first so it won’t move around while I apply the resin
