Amyt Datta, being out of Bengali music, but living hard-core in Kolkata, feels insulted to be sounded like legend Jimi Hendrix. He is walking alone to find his own artistic expression and identity. He is always in search of his own tune and somewhat reached a point to produce is own music "Amyt Datta Ambiance de Danse".

being a musician I can say, that it takes a lot of determination, discipline, hard work, innovation, self-respect, insight, grit, and the most important of all - the "human essence" to become Amyt Da. I respect him for what he is, A wonderful guitarist who simply 'knows his way'... Great Stuff!

To be honest I find the major and minor scales boring when simply played up and down. That's something that every tom, dick and harry can do.The goal of a musician should be to find their own voice on the instrument and not copy what someone else does.I agree completely with most of the things he said. However I would still say that instead of asking the audience to educate themselves it's better to just do your thing and not care about what the general audience thinks because if your work has creativity involved then there will be people who appreciate it. Take for instance a genre like black metal or jazz fusion. There are many people who don't like them but there is still a select target audience to which they appeal. So I would say just do your thing and eventually you will find your target audience.

Know your limits. When someone calls you Jimmy or anyone you should feel proud. Playing own composition is very important I too do that and really the crowd doesn't understand complex music in India. But playing a composition which is composed by some of the best musicians in this world is really something that one must be proud of themselves. Don't be so much arrogant and you are not that good too. If you want to know your limits , come to northeast India and you will know where you actually stand. You people do dirty politics to the northeasterns but rest of India stands nowhere to the musicians of northeast. You play your own composition but don't say that you feel ashamed when someone calls you Jimmy Hendrix. 😠😠😠😠

Amyt Da is correct in his sense. There is casual dining and fine dining in big brand restaurants. Amyt da is like fine dining. Why I am saying this is because, in fine dining one has to abide by the rules of the restaurant. If someone wants Amyt da to play second hand music, better he/she look out for casual dining guitarists.

Jimi hendrix in a lot of interviews has said time and again that he idolized Billy gibbons. Imagine people telling him hey foxy lady sounded just like that old zz top number Billy played. He'd have hated it. Despised them. Probably you've never cared to hear his original music. There's an individuality to it which dare I say is almost unique in the last decade. And about bengalis, well we limit the intellect to things we have a certain expertise in and not criticize a musician of over 50 years on KZbin.

amyt datta knw who is slash or david gilmour, ritchie blackmore, jimi hendrix bt they dnt knw who is amty dutta so here is the difference so stop begging like a creep. i dnt think that listener or audience should educate themelves a little bit to understand your music when they can understand easily slash or david gilmour, ritchie blackmore, jimi hendrix etc. i think you should understand wat we want to listen, i am nt saying that dnt write your own or keep playing others music bt dnt underestimate audience or dnt blame if we dnt like your music. u should keep trying .. i dnt think u should feel insult if people says that your playing like hendrix or gilmour .. they are legends they are guitar god.. they are world famous .. frm a old man to young guy everyone knows pink floyd. so come on stop showing attitude and try to play some cool guitar solo, riffs like coming back to life, comfortably numb, another brick in the wall, time, money, november rain, sweet child oh mine, etc etc.. trust me people will remember you and your music after your death..

+sibasish giri , agreed, he cannot compare himself to these guitar legends...and why would people try to understand his music when they can listen to the likes of Hendrix, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson or Paco de Lucia etc.- there are plenty. It will be a futile effort from his side.

Isn't he trying to just that ? Avoiding comparison ? Plus do you think eddie van halen would ever want to be a Clapton copy ? He adored clapton but he'd hate that comparison. Understand where he's coming from because i think you're way off course here. Yes asking the audience to educate their ears is impractical but where he is based is where the crowd wants to listen to the tired old pink floyd covers again and again to have a fleeting experience of david gilmour's genius. But in the process they would be missing out on truly top quality original music that amyt da is serving here. That's not how a scene or an audience grows. Consider these variables as well.

Hugens Jens Thanks a lot. By stereotyping rock fans you proved just what the man in the video is trying to say. Dont compare like this when there are numerous instances where people like both rock amd jazz. Ever heard of metal bands like Athiest, watchtower, pestilence.?? These guys are death metal musicians who are also influenced by jazz. They are fans of both Tony Iommi as well as Wes Montgomery. I can't say as I am a diehard classical fan and i study music, i am more "erudite" than a hardcore jazz fan. No. Music has never worked like this and never will. Broaden your mind and just like the man said "educate" yourself. Dont judge. Jazz is not the only complex music there is. I can say Andres Segovia can beat the crap out of Alan Holdsworth, but who needs a comparison anyway.

This height of hypocrisy. They talk about " own original music" . They play Pink Floyd and Hendrix in pubs and promote guitar brands because they cannot compromise on expensive shoes and sunglasses. They curse the audience who have appreciated Santana ', B B King and Ravishankar since ages , and show that they are helpless intellectuals
