Legend says that the powerful ruler, King Nebuchadnezzar II, decided to build the Hanging Gardens of Babylon as a beautiful gift for his queen, Amytis.
As dreadful as the world can get, we find ways to cope with this naked truth-we connect, we build, and we escape. How about you? How do you escape?
A woman in her late twenties patently fears that she will die on Christmas Eve proper. We don't know why this certainty exists-whether it's due to an illness, an imminent plague, famine, or war-only Amethyst does. Every year, she attends the Misa de Gallo to commemorate the imminent birth of Jesus Christ and perhaps to prepare herself for her death. However, instead of waking up on the evening of December 16 (the start of Simbang Gabi), she awoke to the crowing of a rooster and found it was already the morning of December 17th. This disappointment set in because, as they say, if you fail to complete the nine days of Simbang Gabi, your wish won't come true.
Wishes here, there, wishes everywhere-and if they aren't obtained, 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘰 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩𝘴, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺? Close your eyes and take any chance you get to at least, for a while, forget. For Amy’s a conman, and so is everyone else who loves.
