Data tells us how the economy was not doing well around the early 80s, kaya nga naganap ang EDSA evolution at milyong milyong mga tao ang sumali dahil ramdam na ramdam na ng mga tao ang paglugmok ng ekonomiya noon, by 1986. Cory inherited the failing economy of the latter years of Marcos Sr.'s 20 years in office, and essentially also failed to address the problem at its core, as did succeeding administrations.

Many of our people have forgotten that the Cory government inherited a crumbling economy, huge debt, was rocked by instability and natural calamities, among others (Mt. Pinatubo). As a kid, I remember those days were quite tough, but also very optimistic. If we don't learn from the past, we are doomed to repeat it.
